Been on the blower to my local Trek store today, they can do an Emonda SL6 pro with carbon aero handle bar upgrade for £2700.

What's the attraction of carbon bars?wouldn't consider them to be an upgrade tbh

Agree not a massive upgrade but the standard ones do weigh quite a bit more, probably the difference of a decent clear out.

Is that a 2020 or 21 year emonda?

My daughter’s race team stopped using carbon bars as they broke too many. Went back to alum.

I guess it's down to the riding you do. My highest mileage bike, Dogma 65.1, has covered 50,000km with carbon headset, no problems. My F10 has covered 11,000km with a carbon headset, again, no problem.

The new Emonda looks lovely. A mix of modern and classic looks. Dunno if it is same on the SL, but the paint job on the black/red SLR looks stunning with the black showing the carbon through the paint.

The ‘21 Pro model looks good value and I think the next model up with di2 is also very good value compared with other di2 entry bikes.

I'd be checking very carefully whether that is in fact a 2021 model as that's a big discount on a brand new bike which has just been launched and the 2020 models are coming in (according to Google) at around the price you've been quoted.

I’ve had several Trek’s over the years with the most recent being a 4 year old Remedy 9. Had an issue with the reverb seat post so dropped it into a mates bike shop to get it sorted. He then sent me tempting photos...

So picked up this rather nice 2020 Transition Scout GX, fully invisiframed. It was two rides old after the previous owner decided to try MTB in lockdown but got bored. Very happy indeed.

I believe he is in Guernsey so should* be getting the VAT off

  • I grew up in Guernsey, if it's the shop I think it is then they were often more expensive than UK RRP despite the VAT thing!

Really! wow I have bought 2 Emondas from them and have always had the VAT (20%) and a 10% discount at least.

Totally double thread posting! But this arrived this morning! I am not sure I have had a bike that’s had so much wow factor out of the box. I almost want to hang it on the wall and not ride it! And Photos compressed really don't do it justice either. One Happy Happy Boy!
