Forgive me father for I have Sinned.
So I completely blame my riding mates who jumped ship just before a trip to wales at the end of September, So I had to join them, First off I bought a GT Force Amp to tied me over the long weekend, turned out to be a very capable bike, but way too heavy and terrible forks and wheels.
I set about narrowing down a bike that ticked all my boxes, Long story short not one bike ticked all boxes, so I had to compromise somewhere.
I had lined up a XTR Pivot shuttle off of Bernard Kerr but as he was inconsiderately still racing world cups etc I looked else where. This is what I ended up with.
Large Heckler which I have immediately changed the stupid SRAM brakes to Magura MT7 Pro with 220 200 rotors, New Wheels that I built (Nextie 45mm Plus wheels) some 2.8 rubber up front, some custom stickers for the invisiframe, some other choice purple parts and to finish it off a new Bel-Air in purple .
I have ridden 29ers for the past decade and I prefer them for my riding but I must say I'm enjoying throwing around small wheels and throwing shapes again.
Don't worry I still have a stable full of analogue bikes that I'm still using, just that little bit less.

Nice rig
Ok so right at the beginning of the year I ordered this frame for No2 for her birthday after months and months of trying to find a decent 26" new or used small full sus bike that didn't break the bank. I got it from AlExpress but it's a decent frame manufacturer *Edit* Kinesis* Who I can't remember and it's going to bug the crap out of me.
Anyway, Covid struck, it got delayed and delayed and her birthday at the end of May was fast approaching. Eventually, it turns up a few days after her birthday and I hadn't had the chance to get it all stripped and re-painted. This meant she had a choice of what colour and theme to go with. Luckily I sold her on the idea I had in my mind and had bought all the blingy bits.
Problem 2, the guy I used to get it powder coated didn't do a good job blasting it, then his oven blew up and it delayed things again for another few weeks, so we decided to build it up and use for the summer.

I had already built the wheels to go with the colour plan.
Before half term i got it all stripped down and off to a local powder coater and hey presto.
built back up, added gold bling, now got a happy little shredder.

Happy Christmas!
What a machine. The attention to detail on these is simply incredible. The frame is surprisingly light for ally too. It also has a very laterally stiff rear which as a heavier rider is perfect. Other bikes have felt flexy and vague in the corners before.
Believe all the hype on the Storia shocks. They offer an incredible ride quality - smooth yet supportive enough to pop off trail features.
My only gripe is the tyre and wheel choice stock from Mojo. It's simply too heavy and slow rolling for anything other than than an uplift day. On it's first run out yesterday I was pedalling a lot more on rolling trails than I would have normally. It felt like an ebike with a dead battery at times.
The wheelset is hope which weighs a simply ludicrous ~ 2.4kg coupled with a Schwalbe big Betty rear and Mary up front. The Betty is over kill for anything other than a full DH race on a very fast rocky or rooty track. I'm pretty sure they're wire beaded DH casings too. I can understand the choice given how capable the bike is but to spec for a very very unlikely situation for the majority of owners at the significant cost of general pedal-ability is an odd one.
Lighter wheelset in the new year it is then.
If you're a taller rider, go and test ride one of these. You won't be disappointed.
