I rarely ride on the road any more so took advantage of the current eBay gravel/adventure bike fever and flogged my Charge Grater for decent money. It's been replaced with a Genesis Tarn 10 to which I've added suspension and an 11 spd drivetrain. So much more comfortable than the Grater on bridleways, in the woods etc.

Love the tarn, nice looking bike.

Yeah, I’m really happy with it. I struggled to find an XL (I’m 6’2”) so took a risk on a large - glad I did, it’s a really long bike.

I'm surprised how fast these long, steel bikes are.

I wasn't really sure what to expect as I purchased it online but was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to maintain a decent speed. The Schwalbe G-One tyres help and compared to my eMTB it's a featherweight laugh

Nice one, a mate who has just got into MTBing picked up one of those late last year and is loving it - amazing to see his increase in confidence over the 15 year old clunker he was riding before that. Enjoy smile

I love my Trance 29, but I was missing the direct feel and simplicity of a hardtail... so with a bit of man maths I went n+1 and bought a hardtail to go with it.

Merida Big Trail 500, nice geometry and pretty solid spec for the (very reasonable) price. Really enjoying it so far. And the ease of post-ride cleaning with no fiddly suspension pivots etc is a pleasant bonus too!

Just finished building this and had a quick ride up the road this afternoon to test fit. Really pleased with it - I think Ti frames are great looking too.

Enjoy! I adore my Enigma.

Quite odd looking at your spec - I started out with pretty much that build, but ended up going more roady with the frame (Etape instead of Escape) and more off roady with the group (GRX instead of ultegra)!

Thanks - I have a carbon road bike but I can see this getting a lot more use. Might even get some mud guards and venture off road a bit :-)

Thanks, I've seen yours on some of the threads - looks lovely. I wanted a mechanical groupset as I'm aiming to do some multi-day rides in the summer (my other bike has electronic shifting but 4 batteries to worry about!) and this was more or less what I could get my hands on. The whole groupset (even the cassette which was like finding a diamond) is Ultegra except the shifters which are GRX 810. This turned out to be a bit of luck as they suit the bike well and I prefer the shape/hand feel.

The wheels are Roval C38, carbon Easton bars and K-force seatpost with Power saddle but special mention to the tyres which are Pirelli Cinturato H 40s and they really are great. I've got them on my other bike (they replaced some Conti GP5000s) as they do everything well - fast on the road (but comfortable as our roads are dreadful), last well, set up easily tubeless, work in the wet and on loose surfaces and most importantly they look cool cool

Cheers for the heads up on the tyres - I'm looking for something to replace my panaracers. I've less clearance than you, but they do them in a size that should fit great.

No problem - they really are great. Seem to be in and out of stock fairly often (like everything bike related!) but Sigma Sports have the 35s in both all black and tan wall at the moment thumbup

Have any of you seen the Ti bikes made by Tom Sturdy in Frome? Incredible work, superb quality and detail including the 3D printed BB she’ll, head tube, seat cluster and dropouts. He’s now tinkering with hollow 3D printed crank arms and CNC machined Ti chainrings.

Was looking those last week. Quite fancy a ti version of my Pole hardtail geometry wise....

Those cranks though... 1500 quid yikes

Look at these!

He’s a clever fellow, does all his own design and cad modelling. His welding is superb. And he’s a really nice guy.
