Merino Aldo baselayer plus t shirt and Aldi breathable / windproof jacket. Aldi winter legs and the NW boots. Some days I haven't been sweaty enough to warrant a shower, or maybe I'm just a dirtbag. The sweat seems to be a factor of how seriously I take it / how hard I ride. Since working out the determining factor is how quickly I get through signal controlled junctions I've been taking it easier and trying instead to manage the approach to hit them green rather than wait and then catch up on the clear bits.

Thanks all.

Still cycling in this weather.

Not sure I’ve got the layering correct.

Thermal Aldi base layer.
Then either a non thermal jersey or thermal jersey.
With a breathable windproof rain coat.

I find that inside my jacket is sweaty and my outer layer also.

Have I too many layers for the heat I generate or is my jacket not that breathable?
I avoid a coat if at all possible, I'm in Aldi base layer, thermal jersey, gillet with most of the back just mesh. This does me down to pretty much freezing. I keep extremities warm though, good boots, gloves and covered ears.

Donned the planet x 365 bib tights this week after using them last year.

God that back panel is horrible, it's the ultimate in slow drying, moisture retaining crapness.

Any recommendations for non stupidly priced (<£60) bib tights for this time of year?

This isn't a recommendation based on personal usage, but Prendas items are always credible - here is a bib tight for your budget

Additionally with respect to the question about layering, I use the craft windproof short sleeve base layer and it is fairly effective at wicking sweat. Here's their selection.
