£45 a pair! Yikes.

Having just switched from XT brakes to RSC's they're really down in outright power and regarding feel... well some call it modulation, I call it spongy! Almost impossible to get full power one figure braking.

I installed "Trickstuff Power 850PO pads" based on some forum reviews hoping that would sort them out, it improved it a little. I've also bled them which helped a tiny bit too. But ultimately I'll be switching back to Shimano.

I have xt on my commute - because I need instant on-off braking for urban encounters but guide ultimates on my mountain bike.

I have never felt the guides to have any less braking power than the xt brakes, they don’t have the initial grab that Shimano brakes are known for, the have a lot more modulation and control. They are also a lot more consistent. My xt brakes seem to vary the bite point depending on the moon phase whereas my guide brakes are reliably the same.

I do agree that the sram brakes need very good bleeding to work properly but once set up are as good as Shimano imho.

Never heard of them. Reassuringly expensive, so I could be seduced.

I fitted Trickstuff Organic Power pads to my Guide Ultimate, which lifted the performance a notch to what it always should have been.

Why did SRAM get the pad material so wrong??????

Otherwise, they are easy to bleed with great modulation. It was just the power that was always lacking, which the new pad solves.

I use the Race Matrix pads in my guides and they are spot on. All good at bimbling about XC and have been great at most of the UK bike parks.

They stop trains, windmills and race cars. You will not believe how much the braking is improved, its instant straight off the stand the lever is solid. People throw guides in the bin and spend hundreds on Hopes or whatever, so these are good value when you put it like that. Last ages too.

LOL, guilty! Just bought Hopes. Fed up of bleeding the Guides though, I think my front one is a Friday afternoon build. Rear is OK but the front is terrible. Doesn't matter how I store the bike, which pads I put in it (not heard of the CLbrakes items though) it just gradually looses pressure. No obvious leaks either, even the shop have been baffled LOL. I wont be binning them though, Ill be buying another front brake and chucking them on my SS.

I am the importer of CL Brakes, if anyone buys and fits them and are not happy, send them back in 7 days I'll give a total refund, thats how good i think they are. Raceco cycles in Stourbridge are stockists and their customers cant believe the difference, I myself have guides on my Specialized Emtb and they are night and day.
I've got them on my Defy road bike too with Shimano BR stuff, also brilliant but admittedly the Shimano stuff was not as poor to start with as the SRAM pads.
