Maguras !
Forgotten about them.
Never had any but I do remember them being launched and seemed amazing.

A nice addition to the resto-mod Univega Alpina Pro I built last year. They're pretty good, but really no better than decent V-brakes and the XT discs on my modern bike are way better. Particularly in the wet.
Maybe I'll see if I can find some Kool-Stop pads for them...

Frame is available for sale if you feel like a project ……
I'd love to have it but I've already got an F6 It's had a few changes since these pics where taken when I serviced it last year. It now has a Spoon Charge saddle and I've just changed the Renthal RC+130 bars (because they had split after an argument with a tree - the tree won - I lost ) for a KCNC Bone bar which weighs in at 120g (approx 10g lighter than the Renthal ). I also changed the old X-Lite bar ends for some really nice Ergon GP3's (highly recommended ).Zippee said:

Nooooo Don't strip it for parts. It's a Pace. It MUST be restored/refurbished/rebuilt and ridden again. NO Pace should ever be sacrificed
If it helps calm the rage here a pic of my 2 pace mtbs...We've shared pics of our respective Pace's before so I know you feel the same way as I do about them

Wow! How did you manage to find that?
It was for sale locally which someone linked to on Retrobike. Two streets away from my Parents and sold from my LBS. Turns out the guy worked with lots of people i work with, and basically bought it new and then never rode it. He just stored it away and now felt like selling it. It was dirty so ive cleaned it up and stripped it but apart from needing a Kore lite stem and a seat clamp its standard.

I just remember how terrible mountain biking was before disc brakes. You can keep any of these retro bikes.
I think it's like comparing older classic cars with their modern day equivalents; Ferrari 250 GTO v Ferrari 812 Superfast (stupid name ) for example. The 812 will be faster in every area and will handle better too but does that make it a better 'drive'? I've never driven either but I'm sure I'd have just as much fun in the GTO. My Pace RC200 F6 still gives me an adrenalin rush every time I ride it. The bike weighs nothing compared to most modern stuff. It climbs like nothing else and is still quick along a tricky single track. And I've never had a problem with stopping (XTR V-Brakes and Mavic Ceramic Rims)
I have just dropped this off to Bristol Bike Restorations for a repair (crack in chain stay), repaint and graphics.
It was an XC pro micro-drive build bought new in 1992 I think from Neil Walton cycles in Manchester. I remember bunking off school to go and buy it with my mate in his mums ‘borrowed’ Sierra azzuro estate. We picked up our equally naughty girlfriends from bath and had a good day out!
I still have the Xc pro thumb shifters, brakes levers and cantis fitted, but before retro was cool, wore out and dumped the xc pro chain set! Now running a mess of Shimano and suntour in friction mode to make it work (kind off). Got period correct deore lx wheels and a mish mash of the rest.
Recently had my lovely felt rxc pro nicked so the orange will go into full time work when ready riding out with my 7 year old son. It needs to be reliable, so I am edging toward a modern drivetrain, as I just can’t justify the expense of the retro gear prices. I mean, £750 for a used xc pro groupset.......
I will post again when it’s ready, but if anyone knows of any decent square taper chainsets and other 90’s parts let me know.

That is stunning.I honestly would have that hanging on my living room wall if it was mine.
My OH has instructions to bury the bike with me when I go I'm not sure about the logistics of doing this but she's promised me she'll do as I said
I'll try and get some better pictures and share them.
