Well I didn’t expect that result today. I though Ganna was nailed on, although apparently he had a puncture which sealed but lost pressure.

Still, I had three of the top four in my team, so not a terrible result.

Good start. Surprised not seeing Ganna at top of time sheet.

On we go. Surely a sprinters day tomorrow.

You'd have to assume the weather changed quite drastically. Lampaert is a good rider but he's just been beaten by Evenepoel to the nationals, who is likely himself better than almost everyone but probably similar to Ganna and Wout. Hard to believe Lampaert reverses that result and then some in the space of a week.

I did have Lampert on my team but swapped him out before the stage.wobble

Him and Asgreen are surprisingly cheap.

Weather was markedly better for riders in second half of the field. I had WvA to win, assumed Pog would be close and Kung to feature.

I got nailed by injuries last year so am scared of making changes and burning through the transfers in the first week! Still happy with my team and the plan!

Yeah but they’re barely an inch or two high…. I get your point, it’s not one for the traditional sprinters but I’m trying to win a competition here, I’m not doing all their homework for them!

Slipped a bit today.

Not seen the stage yet, but thought it had MvDP name all over it.

Double points on Van Aert was a good shout. I thought Jumbo riders would be keeping their powder dry until bigger GC days.

Bit stuck on selection until day 7 change around.

At risk of blowing my four credits in one go, leaving nothing for later. Can’t remember if there is opportunity for gaining credits along the way now it has started.

Catching up on all 4 stages tonight to get into it and try and read some form.

Cobbles tomorrow, should be fun then it’s a bit of a lumpy stage six, both of which will leave a reduced peloton at the line before the first real climb at the Super Plank of Beautiful Ladies… I’m not packing the team with classics riders for one day but now looking to week 2.

3 credits burned to lose Ganna and a couple of others from my squad.

I had Powless in my team but failed to make the Road Captain yesterday, so points lost there.

Hoping the changes bring a few more points over the coming stages… rolleyes

Trying to decide when to make changes and original choices have changed a bit also.

Nearly made knee jerk changes last night. Giving it until the end of todays stage.

MVDP has not produced like I expected. Last chance today. Won’t bother holding onto him for later in the race.

It’s not looking good for MVDP as we speak…

Two more for Pog…. The fact they are keeping Hirschi and Bennett dry at the back says UAE have supreme confidence in Pog alone… a break could take S8 to be honest, it will be their last chance for…… 2022

Stage 8 (Sat)

Stage 9 (Sun)

Monday rest day, then we speculate which Frenchman is going balls out on Bastille Day….

Better day for my team, the omission was not to put Pog as Road captain.

Great film of them on the dusty cobbles towards the end of this stage yesterday.

Pog looking mighty on days I expected he would there or thereabouts but conserving for mountains. Ominous form for the others.

MVDP for most disappointing choice so far. Virtually a total waste of a place and credits.

Been a complete idiot and had it in my head I had only 4 swaps I could make. Would have taken a couple of riders out already. However, still some tricky decisions to make.

I know it’s a bit tedious to keep asking if Pogacar is the new Merckx but I actually think he is. Another incredible ride today.

Feel for Kamna though.

“Unbelievable”…just in the Greg Lemond context.
