Bikes are massively quieter than the DD Trainers.

My KICKR was about 70dB which is about hoover noise.

My KICKR Bike is around 30dB which is about the same as someone Whispering...i.e., silent. The air blown from my Fan is significantly louder.

The benefit of silence is that the TV is so much quieter because the bike is so much quieter, which means I can ride (at 5.30am) with the my door open (to outside) so the room is cooler, I sweat less (sometimes not at all), so the bike, the floor, my shorts and me stay cleaner and less smelly.
'Not at all' - I cycle in my garagre on my turbo and any sort of effort see's me sweating ALOT even with use of a fan!

30mph fan pulling air in from outside.... The breeze is so cold, I sometime have to reach for gloves to stop by fingers getting cold.

Before, when I had to ride with the door closed, I would end riding above a pool of sweat.

Ah - what fan do you have? I just have a floor standing fan, probably not powerful enough.

The Wahoo Headwind - game changer. Airflow controlled by heart-rate or speed (or direct control via your phone)

How do you find the cross bar on the Kickr bike? It looks like the widest and highest of the various trainer bikes.

My knees pass pretty close to the top tube and I've ttted my knee on the gear cable stopper that sticks out of the frame before (only inside though, maybe I swing the bike away outside).

The height is totally adjustable. My Dogmas are 465s and I have no issues.

Width it looks wide because it's flat, but I've never touched it when riding. I've just measured it. 5cm. My F10 is next to it and that is 4cm most of the way along, but goes to 5cm for 4-5cm before the headset, and that is close to where my knees go. I think as you say, when riding normally, the bike has lateral movement - a stationary bike is rigid so it becomes less of an issue.

That's not so bad, my Trek actually measures just under 5cm but the gear stoppers then stick out another 2cm each side. It's made worse because the down tube joins quite high on the head tube so they are raised up towards the knees.

DC Rainmaker discusses crossbar width in his very detailed review here:

https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/10/smart-shootout...

Note this is the Mk 1Atom, the Mk2 is significantly different.

I've seen his reviews. They are good but he quite often gets fixated on something and exaggerates it's impact, like the cross bars. He makes them sound like you need the stance of a cowboy to clear them but they are actually comparable to a bike frame.

He is a little like the Clarkson of the bike world.

Not y view at all. Incredibly detailed reviews, very factual, not opinionated, the complete opposite of Clarkson’s waffle.

Agreed - I find his reviews incredibly useful when I'm looking at new tech.

That I agree....it's more his 'bee in a bonnet' tendencies.

Three weeks and not a single email from Wahoo, it said 2 to 3 weeks and am fine with waiting but you cant get through to them on the phone and not had an update email, pretty bad when you have spent a grand.

Suspect it will be quite a while yet.
Got my core the other day (within 48 hours of ordering, but not from the Wahoo site). Now nursing some minor lower back pain due to poor technique on the trainer as a noob but very pleased with the functionality and much prefer an hour of Zwift vs the gauntlet of outdoor riding in poor conditions.

Cheap atom was too good to be true so now weighing up Neo Bike vs cheaper setup. I Would buy a new Atom but the wait is too long. Neo is due back in stock middle of November.

Probably crazy looking to spend this much money but I need quietness and have no real interest riding on the road. I am not a road cyclist (I do some casual MTB) but figure a Neo bike allows me to do Zwift plus spin stuff from YouTube (or even peloton app if it’s substantially better).

I was originally looking at the Peloton but put off by being locked into their ecosystem and the bike not actually being very good (although the newer one is supposedly better). Also figured that the saving on subscription cost over a year covers the difference between the peloton and the Neo

I have one of the ‘uge iPad Pro’s, 10 inches or whatever it is wink

Anyone got any recommendations for how to mount it? It’s currently stood up next to my setup on a box, not ideal - would like it in front and in reach!

Cheers

Yes from all of his repeated comments about the size of the Kickr bike "top tube" I assumed it was about twice the width it actually is.

Try this: https://tacx.com/product/stand-for-tablets/

or this: https://tacx.com/product/bracket-for-tablets/

The latter works well with my iPad

Got the email to say its been shipped, so due in 2/3 days.

Got a ten speed cassette, well I stuck that on my bike and kept the old one for on the Kickr.

PC is there with a 24 inch monitor, got a fan already set up. Garage floor has those rubber tile mats down.

One thing am not sure on, ANT+ vs Bluetooth, will check the PC as to its capability BT wise, not sure if it has, but have a BT dongle, or do I need to order a specific ANT+ one, as per,
