I could do 2 hours at 3.8w/kg comfortably on turbo and I’m a nobody.
Where are we getting 4 w/kg from? He did 270w or so didn’t he? And doesn’t look 67kg..!
Richard Bidaeu had plenty of help though, shaved probably years off how long it would have taken others to get to that point thanks to who he was friends with

To add a final layer of context, Shubert was happy to share that his average power for the first 80 miles (his power meter, unfortunately, cut out after that) was 285 watts. For someone who weighs about 68kg that is undoubtedly a lot (around 4.2 watts per kilogram, for those without calculators), but it’s perhaps not as much as you might have guessed given how fast he rode.

Wind assisted does make a bit of a mockery of place to place records, but Shubert is a big hitter. He’s got the 6th fastest recorded time for a 100 in competition (3h19m). I can’t see your name on the list of sub 4hr rides and you reached the dizzy heights as a 1st Cat for a few years.

You’re attaching importance to things that aren’t. W/Cda is the measure of performance in time trials on big roads.
Re his hundred time, that’s certainly quick, looks out of place with everything else he’s ever done even given his 10/25 times. I’ve never done a hundred but to get the conditions required for a properly quick time would require more events than I’d ever want to do on roads I wouldn’t want to ride really. That derby course wasn’t pleasant!
Maybe his attempt will see more interest in the record going forwards.

There's no point making a relatable comparison if it doesn't actually mean anything though. TTs are aero and watts, not w/kg.Having had a look at his strava I think there's more headroom there, his numbers on the roadbike are decent, and still some way above TT bike, so closing that gap could see him lower this record further.
According to the numbers his FTP is around 350w on the roadbike, ironically I should think he'd be better suited to road racing, but doesn't seem to have done any.

It was a weaker tailwind....Jonathon looks very very slippy in those photos too.
