Bikes were my life back in the 90’s, all about going as fast as I could, be it, down hill, slalom or just the local trails, as I got a bit older cars and other stuff got in the way but I’d like to get another bike.

To say things have moved on a bit is an understatement!
There seem to be so many sub categories of bikes it’s unreal!!
I think I’m looking for a trail bike that’s closer to the enduro end than the xc end, budget wise probably £2000 on the secondhand bike, so what kind of bikes should I be looking at?

I recently went back into MTB after a long time away and yes, so many options. I wanted a trail bike that would be ok as an XC bike, so I ended up with a YT Izzo. Have done quite a few Dalby (trail centre) days which its great for and some longer 50 mile XC across the moors. Its flawed for XC but some lighter wheels would help but overall as a package, its a great bike for the money.

I'll probably end up with a v light XC hard tail next year ... the Izzo has 130mm travel ... I think thats more than enough for the type of terrain I'll be tackling.

If you want more enduro focussed then maybe have a look at the YT Jeffsy ... have heard good reviews on them.

Gravel bike, can do a bit of off road type stuff but use it on road as well ?

Mountain bikes are great but you tend to need to stick them in a car and spend all day going somewhere to use them.
