How do people do jumps like this - if you go in to slow the landing is screwed so brutal learning curve

Go fast and pull up...or just train a local who knows the right speed smile

Table tops are great for learning jumping skills as they don’t have the consequences of doubles.. then it’s just a mental game to overcome the gaps.

Great conditions last night smile

Great day on the bike today (until the rain arrived, but we were nearly done by then anyway)

Love that, wrapping up just as the rain arrives.

Took the boy to Hamsterley so he could practise his jumping. Pic is the end of K Line.

Amazing weather and surprisingly quiet.

I thought I’d better dig the mountain bike out considering I’m racing an enduro on Sunday and I’d only ridden it twice so far this year, just spent time on the gravel bike. Nothing technical at all just getting used to being back on that bike and hope that I remember how to ride quickly on stage!

Then decided to test fit the sea sucker I borrowed off a work mate - I’m camping at the enduro Saturday night so it’s either take the car and a tent or the easy option and take the van and have a lot easier time setting up, I.e. nothing!

Grand ride out around Kielder Forest at Dirty Reiver, opted for the 65km route which turned out to be a great decision.

Epic gravel route, with a real community feel to it….42 miles & 4300 ft vertical ascent.

120 miler won in just over 7hrs eek

Moved to Cheshire a few months back so looking forward to trying some of the rides you've done.

Stunning scenes along the Loch side, feint hint of mist hanging just after sunrise and like a mill pond.

My competitive side however, dictated people stopping for photos were dafties and the clock wouldn’t care about a selfie hehe

Definitely the hardest climb I have encountered thus far!

Edit:

Decided to stop being a tightarse and pay for the event photos. Just about at the Glendoe summit, the event’s King of the Mountain stage. 380m in 9km, with a delightful false summit half way through hehe

Congratulations on that one! Just a solo 90 from me yesterday ….
That said, I didn’t know the local Duathlon was on yesterday, so I did a couple of km on the same road whilst others were competing. It was permitted. smile

Old train station en route at Rippig/Rippeg

Banana break at 50km, Wasserbillig (L), looking across the Moselle at Oberbillig (D)

Got a few PBs, including a long climb up from Ehnen on the Moselle to Canach, which Mr Loudlashadjuster will also know, since we did the same climb last Sat.

I think that bleached tree-trunk within the lighter green tree on the left far side of the lake is the one that's carved into a multi-headed snake. Got to love Beaulieu, either inside the Motor Museum and House, or outside in the village. Lovely place and I probably owe myself a ride out that way soon. Needs Ore Point and St Leonards Barn are favourites too.
