Nice to get a sunny day for riding after 3 days of rain, the moisture made for some entertainingly slippery patches of trail though!

High point of riding in the Alps just under 1900m, was a bit parky.

I'm out in Philadelphia at the moment for work, but managed to engineer a free weekend into the mix.

Found a local hire shop. Pretty limited choice, but they had an entry level Marin gravel bike in my size.

It's rather firmed up my view that gravel bikes don't make an awful lot of sense in the UK... but out here they're pretty ideal. 30 miles done from the centre of Philly, including about 12 miles on dedicated gravel trails. An enjoyable ride, despite the enormous weight of this thing and rather ineffectual cable disc brakes hehe

First proper ride on my freshly rebuilt Orange Four - I had forgotten how good both the trails at FoD and riding a full sus bike are.

It was last week, only just got round to uploading this biggrin

Anyway, first “epic” on new bike just a few weeks old. West Sussex to south of Canterbury with a little train bit in the middle (as I’m not quite cycle fit enough this early in year biggrin)

Anyway, pic just outside of Rye/Appledore, lots of sheep!

After a blustery few miles on road into an easterly wind I joined the Strathkelvin Cycleway. Hadn't used it for a year or two. Resurfaced with perfect smooth tarmac. Trees both sides for wind shelter. Flat obviously. No cars. Bliss!

Stopped at a random pub for a pint. No clue outside but it was a Rangers pub. Luckily I wasn't wearing any green. The local were friendly. Note the portrait of the Queen.

It was a slow ride this afternoon, but nice to have some company.
