This morning, "Smells From Today's Ride" would be more appropriate. Seems it's muck spreading time, and believe you me, that muck was ready to be spread! Fair clears your lungs out smile

Anyway, didn't want to stop near those tractors for some unfathomable reason, so as I'm using Kamoot to guide me around many of the old small roads in the area, here's the Botanic Garden's dome from another angle:

Halfords Special chilling before the gruelling 17% Radio Mast climb up to the Ridgeway. It is tarmac but it was bloody hard work.

1990's I think steel Raleigh race bike with 7 speed indexed Campagnolo, down tube shifters, 52/39 chainset and a slightly off brand 14-28 Shimano cassette/freewheel. Mavic Open 4 CD rims look beautiful as does the white paint.

Early start this morning - bit chilly on the road, so took the gravel bike along some singletrack…

…and up a few rocky trails - obviously the camera doesn’t show this is about 1:1 at this point…

…and could almost see my house from here, but that’s North Head we’re looking at…

…then down to the beach to watch the surfing…

Back home by 7.30, defrosted by 8…

Which was then just in time to take PB Jnr3 out for a 20km ride with his mate - has figured that speed can help with jumps…

Quick spin in the local woods yesterday - they are in the middle of thinning the woods which happens every 5 years. They seem to have taken great pleasure in destroying quite a few of the trails which is extremely frustrating. Spent 45 minutes doing some trail clearing which was a different type of workout! I use local woods for pre-work 1 hour rides then it's up to Surrey Hills for decent stuff at the weekends but the local woods are getting more and more troublesome....

Was seriously thinking of selling this but not now.

First ride (22 miles) on it since February. Done well over 1600 miles on my MTB in the same period.

Added some Shimano MTB flat pedals to it & loved it. Defo a fair weather bike though & the MTB is more usable & comfortable.

Wasn’t aiming for 100 but once I got mucked about by a road closure it ended up happening anyways. Same nonsense thumped my average speed a bit.

Not read of any major issues with the NX and I've had mine for several months now with mixed riding. Everything does need to be torqued up correctly and calibrated though on these 12 speed drivetrains else you end up with stuff failing down the line. No idea on the SX, isn't that base model XD body fitment whilst the NX is of course Shimano HG.fitment. I don't think NX is classed as low/mid/high really as it stands on its own being designed for HG freehub bodies and the only 12 speed cassette from anyone else is a KMC one.

One plus of the NX is the reach mech is less prone to bending which the GX rear mech is, but as it's Eagle you can swap around whatever Eagle component and build a custom drivetrain which is nice.

I do believe the bulk of the issues were with the early GX drivetrain which SRAM later fixed mostly.

SX is very poor I would always recommend GX and above first thing I did on my new bike was replace the SX derailleur and shifter to X01 smile

laugh Sorry, I'm primarily a roadie, so not authorised to comment on your bike. I like how you've matched your drink to your grips and pedals though!

Back in the office periodically now, and I'm making the most of the light and weather with a bit of cycle commuting. ~20 miles each way across South Oxon into Bucks. Hitting the Ridgeway at 6:30 in the morning certainly wakes you up hehe

I don't post many pictures here, but if you were to follow me on Strava you could get to see my 'Churches, Churchyards, and Commonwealth War Graves Of Rural Wiltshire And Dorset' collection...
