Hmm! 3/7 bikes are sold out and the four they do have are too big. Oh, and they're 140mls away.

I think these fat, dumb, happy, retailers will get a shock when the majority of customers get fed up with the pantomime and move onto the next big thing.
That's a fairly big exaggeration! Every shop/retailer I speak to is glad of the business, understaffed and understocked. Most struggling massively to get stock whilst wondering when/if the demand will decline and value of hiring more workers (just like the rest of the supply chain...).

Though plenty of difficult people as there were well before covid

Maybe it's more just that hehe

I hope they don't move on.

I love lightly used bike/bike parts.

Any bike that I love and keep for any period of time I absolutely hammer.

Post covid there will be alot of people selling off rash purchases of all kinds.

Bring it on.

I admire your optimism, but I think a lot of people will realise what a hit in the pocket they’ll take, and decide to hang on to them. They still won’t be happy with the crammed commute, so will carry on riding. The bigger issue, will be as they need servicing and replacement parts, and find it’s difficult to get them.

Correct. People keep saying this to me, and it won’t happen.

People don’t like losing money, so what they tend to do is keep hold for a few years (e.g. my 100 miles ridden Defy which I got in 2019ish... Was a 2013 model!)

People will keep them in the shed until they realise they don’t actually want it or their partner tells them it has to go.

So we have maybe 5-7 years to wait first.

And some of them may prove their doubters wrong. We’ve had loads of new joiners to our club since we reintroduced Sunday rides 2-3 weeks ago.

That too!

I was only talking about those who don’t use their bikes. I am the first to be really glad for more people to be taking up cycling.

If that’s for recreation - more health. That’s good.
If that’s for commuting - better for the environment. That’s good.

Also, more cyclists means more ‘cyclist conscious mentality’, which is just amazing.

... and I’m one of the unlucky ones who cycles a lot, but has gone without a bike because of all of this stock issue stuff. I’m still happier than I would’ve been with lots of stock about.

OP again smile

Slight swelling of excitement in my bib shorts tonight

Canyon are now showing as shipping Endurace and some Ultimate SLX models for July/August so things are not as catastrophic as Id concluded

Still 3k for an Ultegra Endurace though which is a lot more ££££ than last year, but better than 105 from mainstream bikes which are currently sold out on the UK high street at the same price point

Cheers

I’m afraid i disagree with this. I wish it was true but the reality over the past few years is the complete opposite. Roads are in a terrible state and motorists are less tolerant of cyclists. My road bike has become a nice ornament of late whilst my mtb and gravel bike have been hammered.

I agree over the last few years it’s got so much worse, but my hope is change will come... we can but hope. It may take some time, and will rely on more people sticking with cycling.

Yes we probably need another 10 years to start properly embedding the cycling culture and we are still in the "resistance to change phase" aka "pesky cyclists".
