The interviews are good and its nice to see him happy, but now I would like to see him the drop the "I like riding my bike" happy clappy st and say, actually you know what I am fking going for that record, I am going for Green and I am going to do it. So come at me.
I agree.

He’s obviously very happy and that’s great but from what I’ve heard (podcasts) from people who know him and have raced with him, he’s a very focused individual and absolutely committed to achieving his goals so I don’t believe he’s not obsessed with the things you mention.

Weather looks good for Libourne today, 25c and a slight headwind. I’ll be a bag of nerves watching the stage but I reckon we’ll be popping the top on a bottle of Moët 4:30 ish. Go Cav…….

If Cav wins today, I wonder if they’ll consider setting Morkov up for the Champs Elysees. It would be a nice gesture.

Actually, I get what he's saying. True story coming up...I used to work for a well known company that was the other main sponsor of the McLaren Mercedes F1 team. We used to take key clients around the MTC (McLaren Technology Centre) in Woking, and it was a petrolhead's dream day out.

As if walking around the MTC and learning about the workings of the f-duct weren't mind blowing enough, quite by chance, Cav was picking up his brand new MP4-12C that day. We weren't allowed to approach him, and it was "no photos" (well...technically...ahem...) but when he was handed the keys he was literally jumping up and down on the spot and doing a crazy little dance and giggling like a 5 year old. It was super cool to see him just so excited and in that moment seeing the "real" Cav away from the media's cameras and microphones.

So yeah, the crazy dance and the "I like riding my bike" goes together perfectly IMHO.

Not the Champs sprint, and I be surprised at any, it's not like a GC rider gifting a stage.

I think Cav will get it today, and he’ll be out for the Champs as well, just to really nail it. He’s totally told me this year, fair play to him.

The politics of the tour are many and complex but credit where it’s due, they totally respect their history

It would be quite a gesture and well deserved for Morkov.

If the record is beaten today I guess CAV could lead Morkov out, but I can’t see it happening. Not so much CAV being against it, but the team / sponsors would want it to be CAV winning.

Wait until Cav gets the record and the cameras aren’t on Merckx. We’re going to need a bigger urinal.

Maybe the effort of getting through the mountains has done him. Maybe he was deliberately holding off today to save everything for Paris. We’ll see.

There was a comment this morning or yesterday from CAV about ‘resting his boys in the peloton’.

Haven’t seen today’s result yet, but saw breakaway had got a huge gap so guess no bunch sprint.

It would have been max effort today to keep it in play for a bunch sprint. Makes sense to use today and spin out the TT as best as possible and go for it in Paris having had recovery from mountains.

(Rules out any gesture to Morkov though)

How would not retiring on the podium be more egotistical?

Personally I hope he goes on, it always seems a shame when someone retires at the top. But it's up to him (or rather his ego).
