I loved my Sunday. These days it sits in the garage in bits looking sorry for itself with its bent seat stays.
Get an angle set on it and it'll be as good as any modern dh rig
Aye, my old Sunday was a great bike. Think I had a 2 degree angleset in mine - rode really well. Never could get rid of the linkage play though.Get an angle set on it and it'll be as good as any modern dh rig
Still, I'd have another one.

New Planet X RT58...
I seem to be building up a collection of cheap northern road bikes!
I've always found the geometry of the Ribble a little too aggressive over long distances, and the Sora thumb shifters annoying, so it can now be confined to turbo trainer duties.
That Planet X is a good looking bike, still kicking myself for not picking one up when they were on sale before Xmas, plus the 20% voucher codes! would have come in at £399! I seem to be building up a collection of cheap northern road bikes!

Have you ridden it yet, is it any good?

Those lefty forks.... I just can't trust them. I'm sure they are fine, but they make my (missing) front teeth feel the pain (again).
Never even noticed the missing leg. All teeth counted and still in location. They are plushing up nicely, so will tweek them a bit in a ride or 2 time. Happy so far with it.See this about 'normal' forks.......

I missed the voucher codes, so I paid the 'full' price of £500. Even so it still seems remarkably good value.Have you ridden it yet, is it any good?
I took it out over the weekend, not the best time to test a new bike with the high winds but I'm impressed so far. It's a bit lighter than my Ribble, feels a bit more nimble, and the slightly more upright seating position is what I was after. Seems well built, even the bottle cage screws threads have been greased, no creaks or rattles yet. Front derailleur needs adjusting as the chain rubs slightly in the highest gears but that aside everything else was perfect.
The finish on the frame is good, no stick on vinyl unlike the Ribble. The Planet X branded stem, bars and seatpost look a bit naff but are easily upgraded. I was expecting the wheelset to be the cheapest going, although the Evans price suggests otherwise (http://www.evanscycles.com/products/vision/team30-wheelset-ec060711). I was going to swap the Shimano R501's from my other bike over but in theory these should be an upgrade, I'll see how they go. Likewise the Planet X tyres seem to have reasonable reviews, I'll keep for a bit, although initially they seem to have a very shiny/slippy finish.
I'm happy, much better spec than the equivalently priced Boardman/Trek/Specialized.

This should arrive today -
to accompany this one....
the top one is a 2013 frame and modern kit, im going to go out with my son and have some fun on it, its also the X Large frame. The the bottom one is 1983 frame and 95% 80s original kit. I've ridden it a few times, but frankly it should be hanging on a wall somewhere.
