Half way through setting up my replacement commuter; 2016 Marin Lombard Elite

Need to get the pedals off an old bike and it's good to go.

Picked up my new bike, a Bianchi Intrepida. Going from my 5 year old Specialized Allez to this is like night and day!

Finally just received my new bike and it feels well worth the wait. It's a Ribble R872 with Ultegra Di2.

This is my first proper bike after trundling about on a Carrera TDF road bike for 18 months!

LOL. I know. Ah well, first thing tomorrow is to replace brake pads, clean disks and find a suitable front mudguard.

So I went into halfords with my £800 c2w voucher and the buggers have stocked up with the 2017 boardmans and increased the price.

So I ended up with a 13 intuition alpha.

Carbon frame-fork
Tiagra mech.

8.6kg?! wow...
Halfords website showing it with an unfeasible seating position....

There supposedly not much good if you get up off the seat and power your way around , keep it sat down and spin your way around is the way to ride these to best effect.

I couldn't find much else for £750 plus i thought it looked cool , reminded me of the marco simonchelli moto gp bike.

The pedals are spd one side and ordinary flat the other for commuting / nipping up the shops.

No idea when it's going to get used ( obviously i'll be cycling to work wink ) as i have a lot of run training thru the winter ready for braces in march-april.

Those double-sides pedals are absolutely brilliant things, and the bearing seals are really good too. Mine are still silky smooth after 3 years of year-round commuting.

As bought:

Mid build:

On the road:

It's not the lightest frameset (2.9kg without headset) but it fits beautifully and is a lovely springy ride. Every mile is a pleasure.

Good VFM, but if it full carbon, it must have heavy components if it's 8.6kg? Makes for some easy weight saving ;-)

Yeah most the components/wheels are halfords own 13 brand.

AH! Makes sense. Take a quick spin around the online sellers end-of-season sales. You'll easily shave of a kilogram of that weight!
