When they said 50% off... did they mean the fork?

Check your Slate hasn't got the wheelset that had a recall.

It’s got the Mavic wheels so I’m ok. Thanks for the heads up though.

My recent project, Kona Hoss frame powdercoated and built up using Shimano SLX 1x11 groupset, Thomson bars/stem and seat post, Reba forks and DT Swiss rims with Mountain King 2.4 tyres.

The future is green, Kona Green

New Winter bike/Commuter

Bought the cheapest Allez model just to use the frameset and built it up with spares/bits from older bikes then sold off the old bits that came with the bike, have managed to set it up exactly the same as my race/summer bike which is handy.

After a few year in the loft it was time for a tidy up

Basic refurb 2011

Needed to do a proper refurb.

Great job, but I would change the stem to something simpler. Well done anyways!

Thanks for the input, it means a lot.

The purpose of the exercise was to use the vintage frame to build a bike capable of long distance (50 mile plus) by using modern components whilst still trying to keep it classic looking.

I could have used the existing stem but felt a new style fitted the brief better (although if I could have it without the branding I agree it would look even better).

Acetone or nail polish remover will get rid of the Deda decal in about 10 seconds.

Straight Dad - that's a pretty cool restoration. Who is that in the 2011 picture then?

Kudos for keeping hold of a bike for that long smile

Free from father-in-law 😁

Started cycling to work last September (after nearly 30 yrs last on a bike...) only fair weather tho.

Bike is a Marin , approximately 10yr old.

Thanks

That's my dad, sadly no longer with us.

The picture of him as a youngster was taken at Hunstanton where him and his mates would regularly cycle to from Peterborough (115 mile round trip).

The plan is to take the bike on the same trip once I kind find a route that avoids the A47.

Sounds good and looks like you've got quite a nice route to work!
