The tapers on my beloved rs-7 cranks are knackered because I'm a spoon and overtightened them to stop them creaking, not realising it was actually the horrible shimano BB creaking!
The cranks are covered by a lifetime guarantee but not on the tapers of pedal threads so I'm a bit gutted. I hadn't even used them that much!

So has anybody got any ideas of what to do with £120 worth of shiny cold forged aluminium bike porn lovelyness that don't suit their original purpose?

I did consider putting them in a vice and bending them with a scaffolding tube so I can get a new pair under guarantee but thats a bit cheeky really isn't it.

I'm now saving up for a new pair, in black, with the uber-sexy Uno singlespeed chainring doofer and of course ISIS splines. But they are £140!!!

I'd speak very nicely to Middleburn, and see if they can do you a set at trade plus vat if you explain and give them your old ones - they will want to see you happy, and whilst they wont warranty them, they may be nice enough to ensure you are a Middleburn fan and keep you happy.

Always worth a try

As long as your polite, i reckon they'll go with that - Known for their good customer service.

I'd be tempted to ask for ISIS replacement, your BB might wear quicker but there cheaper to replace than crank arms.

I've been waiting for Middleburn to release their promised external BB cranks for about a year..

Stick 'em the wall with a plaque. That's what I've done with my rigid Dave Lloyd and my trashed (ran over by a car) Handjob frame and RS-7 cranks.

No reply yet. I really want to get my new bike built so can't be hanging about waiting for the middleburn guys to feel sorry for me!

So I'm ordering a new pair of ISIS RS7s in black with the Uno chainring tonight lick
