Hi all,
I have just purchased one of these, and am awaiting its delivery. I just wondered what the view of the Ph masses was on it, and its spec. It won't be used for anything too mental, trips to the gym, and occasional trips to the DH at Cannock chase. General views from the research I have done is that its a reworked classic, a tad overpriced for the spec, but a good solid allrounder......
Thanks in advance all,
Jono

That's a nice bike. Nothing personal but it sounds like you spent way too much money for what you intend doing. I do cross country and moderate downhill on something that cost less than half that and I use an old modified GT Zaskar with road tyres for riding round the streets. That way I don't get too upset if it gets scratched or dented.
Whilst I think some of those £3k+ plus bikes are amazing bits of kit I just couldn't imagine the trauma of damaging one.

The Spesh Cockhopper is a really capable bike. It'll certainly handle what you want to do and if you get more into mountain biking then it will cope with a lot more. Mandog took one to Morzine for his missus to use one year. Unsurprisingly she didn't fancy the riding but our guide used it one day when his 222 was broken and he loved it.
I got a Rockhopper Pro (just a few components different to the Expert) on the CTWS a couple of weeks ago and first impressions of it are very good. It seems to be more manouverable than my old bike, but also seems to be more stable and have a longer wheelbase too, very clever. It also seems to handle very nicely the silly stuff I do with it, tail whips and wheelies being two common things I end up doing along with lots of hilly off road stuff.
The only things that I really didn't like about it were the handlebar grips and the pedals. The grips I've changed for some Yeti dual compounds for greater shock absorption and grip. The SPD pedals I've changed for my old DMR V8 flats since it seems that when I'm messing about and want the bike to go in a particular direction I end up twisting my feet, which releases my foot from the clip.
