Upright steering. I bet that won't be very twitchy.

It's a neat design.

I'm not sure what it would be like to ride. Is the seat a fixed height?

Now that's one way to over complicate the folding bike. Yay! I've got a suitcase full of loose parts! Vertical stearing, no brakes and no seat hight adjustment.

Interesting idea, but who could really be arsed to do that the moment they step off the tube?

i love all the comments from people who are blatantly non-cyclists saying how cool it looks and how much they want one....yeah, probably just to hang on the wall as a "piece of art" or something.... fickwuts the lot of 'em....

there is a good folding bike design out there where everything folds/wraps around one of the wheels so efectively you are carrying the whole bike, all contained in the space of one wheel. i'll try to find a picture of it, but its in the last issue of cycling plus....

In terms of a folding bike that is designed WITHOUT forgetting about the person cycling this one seems pretty cool, only noticed it the other day as someone on one zoomed past with minimal effort which made me suspicious.... As suspected it has a motor! It is british designed and folds into a box too if you want... click the + on the bottom left...

I think the structure would be about as stable as Lego once you tried to transmit a couple of hundred Nm through it (Chris Hoy develops a peak of around 600Nm!).

Some nice ideas, just the wrong application imho.

Agreed, but I do like the rear chain/seat stay design allowing you to run a belt drive. Whether they would be stiff enough is questionable, but using thicker tubes or a carbon monocoque design would be a great solution to fitting a belt drive.

+ Good that someone is exploring the possibilities - always good to have a rethink and not take things for granted. nerdread
