Hi I'm looking for a small frame MTB for my daughter, with 26" wheels. She is 10 but tall for her age - we tried her on both 24" and 26" wheeled bikes at the weekend and the best option seemed to be the 26" wheels with a small frame (14").

I know they've had bad write-ups in the past, but I didn't think the Apollo at Halfords was too bad - it didn't seem too heavy, but unsure about the "twist" shifters which seemed quite stiff:

Other potentials I have found are:

http://www.simpsoncycles.co.uk/product.php?xProd=1... - available in a 13" frame

http://activesport.co.uk/shop/article_1073.001/Gia... - 14" frame

I'd really appreciate any advice on offer .... £250 is the absolute limit (£200-220 would be even better). I'm quite capable of setting up myself so happy to order online - but do want to stick to something new rather than second-hand.

Thanks...

If i were you I would save up an extra tenner and go for this -

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

Its a 14" ladies frame but you will notice it is not the same style as the ones you have highlighted ((i.e low cross tube), so you may just want to check it fits her OK first.

A few others for your perusal -

Admitteldy the last one is a tad over budget, but you may get a better deal at a different store.
