New post - any recommendations?

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a new seatpost for my Merlin Extralight road bike. I've currently got a Thomson Elite, but a lot of people reckon a carbon post will give a most comfortable ride. Does anyone have any first hand experience to confirm this is true? My other options are Thomson Masterpiece, Tune Starckes Stuck and USE Alien ti. I'd love the real exotica like AX lightness, Shmolke etc, but they're far too pricey!

Weight is a priority too, so I'd want something less than 180g (yes, I'm a self-confessed weight weenie!).
