After about 4 years without any form of 2 wheeled action, I've just ordered a Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc 2010. Took me a while to decide but when I got on it (after discovering I needed a bigger size than I expected or had previously used) I knew it was the one for me.

Didn't want to plough a shetload of cash in just yet without being sure I was going to stick it out. Looking at using for Sunday morning rides and the odd early evening ride in the summer. Nothing too extreme just yet.

Looking to change the pedals to DMR V8's straight away so I feel a little bit more at home. The current ones on the bike I tested seemed a bit 'Halfords'. Can't justify other upgrades just yet as I've got helmet / gloves / camelback to pay for.

Just felt like sharing that!

Nice one thumbup A colleague of mine has just got the exact same bike as you in a bid to get back into cycling. He loves it and i am sure you will too.

PS - DMR V8s are a good pedal - i have them on all my bikes. Great value for money IMHO

Good choice on bike and pedals, the V8s can take some abuse but I found mine had almost zero grease in them from new. It can help packing the bearings with decent grease - even from new - to make them run smoother for longer IMO.

Cheers for the advice. I have had V8's a couple of times before on older bikes. Guessing the will make me feel more 'at home'. Plus the stock ones seems a little small and flimsy.

Hopefully collecting it tomorrow lunch time. Fortunately the other half is away on Saturday so it could make for great timing! Now just figures crossed for anything other than a monsoon!

Thanks for the advice. Stangely, I've found some of the DDG sealed V8 copies from my old bike. They are a bit battered but the look OK and still have all the pins though.

Dark blue pedals with a red and white frame though? I'm not convinced!

Yeh go for it. Just think old Schoold 80s BMX look - bright bold colours that clash thumbup
