Hi

I've recently had my voucher sent through for Halfords via my cycle to work scheme. I've had my eyes set on the Boardman FS Comp for a while but it seems reading through the net and Halfords website they seem to have stock problems due to the overwhelming success of the bike. I visited Halfords today and they have managed to locate a couple of these bikes at another store in the country. The salesman has taken my details and is going to ring me on Monday as they have to get permission from the area manager to order the bike in from another store if it's possible. Failing this he will get me some details regarding the new model which will be coming out soon. Due to the bike winning lots of awards the demand has outweighed supply. The salesman said the bike is unbeatable value for money, if you were to strip the bike and sell the parts individually it would be worth more than the new price of the bike. I just hope I can locate one as my voucher expires in March 2010 and I really want this bike.

It says on the Halfords website hat they are available to purchase on line for home delivery. Also says that store stock is very limited.

Do you need the FS, not tempted by the HT as the kit on this is a slight step up and obviously a nice little reduction in weight! Although guessing these will be just as hard to come by.

Even though they had no FS Pros instanly available, they told me they could get them in a few weeks.

Hi

Halfords have managed to find and order me the bike. The salesman phoned me today and said he managed to get permission from the area manager to order the bike via head office. The salesman I deal with is a mountain bike geek and really knows his stuff which is great. He will be building the bike. I also purchased all the accessories today, helmet, mudguards, lights, cleaning + lubricant set and lock. They also chucked in the £20 voucher (if you collect the bike today) which ends today which was good of them. A also went for the 1 year bike care plan at £17.99 which saves me the hassle of servicing and repairing the bike. I can't wait to collect the bike in a week, it's like being 10 years old all over again!!!

yup. Ive been waiting over six weeks now for my boardman team FS. Should be getting it tomorrow tho biggrin I think the stocking issue is now improving, a load more arrived from Taiwan last week.

It might be worthwile checking the bolts at all the pivots on the back end of the frame - halfords dont look at these (assembled at factory). One fell out on my mates FS comp, the one at the bottom bracket behind the chainrings, which jammed up the drivetrain and damaged the threads in the frame. I'll be taking all mine out and loctiteing them.

The frames are made by Merida so I'm told.

Well after 4 weeks since ordering I finally picked up my bike today. It really looks the business soon as I take some photos I'll post them on here. When I went to pick it up I spoke to the tech guy who built the bike and he was saying the Boardman FS Comp is a really hard bike to get hold of, almost impossible due to supply and demand. He said there are two more on order for customers but he has no confirmed date when they will be delivered in. I'll probably go out on it after Xmas now due to family plans over the festive period. They have setup the shock for a meduim build person but he said I'll probably want to tweek it in the future when I get a good feel for the bike.
Just can't wait to take it out now, it's like being a kid again at xmassmile
