I know, I know... but my daughter will be 3 soon and she loves pink, I mean REALLY loves pink.

Are there any gurus on childrens bikes out there? I'd like to get something of decent quality, but the Specialized bike I found only comes in purple... Does it make a difference at that age? Would a Raleigh do the job - it's easy to get them in pink.

I really want her to enjoy cycling so we can have family days out etc so I need to make sure she loves her first bike. I admit I am a bit of a badge snob (my Rockhopper is a ~great~ bike, so I trust Specialized kit), but I'm prepared to be convinced and get the less cool badge (she won't care a jot). If there isn't a difference in quality then I'd rather save the money, but if there is a difference then I am happy to spend a bit more.

Ridgeback kids bikes are better than Specialized IMO - quill stems, and proper brakes not roller brakes on the smaller wheeled variety.

They are also a bit cheaper, and usuefully the MX16 and MX20 girls versions are bright, luminous, shocking pink.

The backpedal brake on the Spesh was the very reason I bought a Hotrock 16" for my daughter when she was 3 rather than the Ridgeback. The brakes on the Ridgeback were way too stiff for her to get any real stopping force, whereas backpedal was easy and effective.

As if a three year-old is going to care about the brand... Just get a pink one, if she enjoys riding then that's great, but I doubt buying her a Specialized will make her like it any more than if you buy her a Raleigh...

The purple one is the 16" wheels, which I think might be too big for a 3yo anyway.
The 12" version is full-on baby pink. My 3yo loves hers.
My 5yo loves her purple 16" HotRock - it is quite girly, especially with the butterfly motifs.
