First post in the section, I'm not really up on my bikes but I've just bought a 'Muddy Fox Trailblazer Sport' which is a hybrid/leisure bike whatever you want to call it. It has 18 gears and seems to be reasonably good quality, judging from the way its built and the welds, although I'm certainly no expert.

I spotted it on the notice board at a local supermarket, advertised as a mountain bike only used twice £50. I went to see it and it was an oldish chap in his 70s, said he bought it 18 months ago but can't use it any more because of a nerve problem in his leg. Anyway the bike was mint, a bit dusty after being sat in his garage and had obviously never really been ridden so I paid him the money and took it away.

I'll be using it mainly for cycling around the country lanes near my house and going for rides along canals are about as challenging as the terrain I'll be tackling!

A Giro helmet is on order, as is a new comfy gel seat as this one was really uncomfortable and had a bit of an old man vibe about it! Also the mudguards and rear luggage rack have been removed as it looked a bit too 'San Francisco' for me, if you catch my drift ! wink

Anyway here is my trusty new steed the day I bought it!

50 quid is basically nothing - good buy.

May you blaze many trails upon it.

Adjust that stem a bit so its a bit more horizontal...or it will handle very oddly!

Saddles wise, bigger and more gel filled does not necessarily mean more comfy...its all about the fit of the thing.

Good luck and happy riding!

I think they cost about £200 new. So basically unused @£50 is a bit of a bargain!

Yeah the stem does need adjusting the bars are too far forward. Probably a stupid question but how do I adjust it? I unscrewed the 2 Allen bolts opposite each other but that did nothing as far as I could tell, not sure if you can see from the pic tho...

The old chap I bought it off said he paid £200 for it 18 months ago and has used it twice, hell it still even has the knobbly bits on the tyres from the mouldings! You can just feel that its basically new the gears and brakes feel spot on.

erm.. if the bars at their current postition are too far FORWARD, then you may have a problem and bought a bike thats too big for you.
