I had my bike nicked a couple of weeks ago, a focus lost lagoon hybrid, nothing special admittedly but I loved the bike !!

I purchased it on the cycle to work scheme and so cannot avail of the scheme again for 5 yrs. Due to circumstance I could not afford the 700euros for a replacement and the insurance paid me the princely sum of 250 euros !

So, I took a punt on the second hand market and bought a Giant FCR 3 for 350 euro, my god what a revelation ! It absolutely flies !! Much quicker (and lighter) than the focus. I thought road bikes were a bit 'hardcore' for a very amateur cyclist but I am smitten.

Though I'm not that smitten that I wouldn't want to inflict some unpleasantness on the thieving scum that nicked my bike

Once you've experianced a half decent road bike there is no going back to riding anything else on the road. They are soooo much quicker than anything else

BTW I didn't know you could only use the C2W scheme once every 5 years?? I thought you could apply every year?

I'm in Ireland and you can only use it every 5 yrs
