So I'm off for my first ride this year on Sunday. I've mapped out my route which includes a lovely (and slightly daunting) climb.... it may kill me.

So lets see what routes you take / have taken.

Call that hilly? Heh that's just a bump in the road

Here's one from the other weekend, haven't had time to do more than the usual 8 miler round the block since

This is what last Saturday's "short ride out" turned into. Probably not as far or as hilly as some here, but it was done fixed gear!

ETA: A lot of it in a monsoon-like downpour too!

Wow, puts my 200ft climb to shame! Good Going.

I'm looking forward to tracking my ride with GPS and seeing what my HR is as I go up. Could be interesting

My ride to work this morning: http://beta.mapmyride.com/route/detail/21359594/

Nothing like a 600ft climb at 7am to wake you up!

Do you have to cycle back?! Impressive climb though, I'd be asleep by 10am if I did that in the morning.

Yes, the cycle back will be interesting ... will be just over 50 miles in total, which will be the most I've done in a day. Currently carb loading for the cycle home wink

From looking at the link it looks like it will be tough going home as the climb is near the end of your journey, although you do great a 'break' halfway up. Good luck!

My route to work. I do this between 2 and 6 times a week, sometimes both ways in a day. It's a mixture of on and off road and done on my marin Wolf Ridge full bouncer.

Well I went on my ride.

I went out with a mate (first time I've ever ridden with someone!) and it was his first time on a road bike. I let him set the pace and take it easy so he didn't burn out too quickly. Stopped a few times for him to grab a drink so it was a very relaxed ride, different to what I am use to.

We didn't attempt the hill as he legs were tired so we headed home (he was tired because I got us lost and added a good 13km onto the route). I pushed on a little going up hill and then back down near the end of the route, almost hit 35mph but ran out of gears. All good fun!

Can I hotlink?

It's a new 200km audax route that I routechecked on Sunday with the organiser (comes in at 210km) for a calendar event later in the summer. The control points are 2x Beans cafe's and a "local cafe". I safely took onboard a lot of calories.

First day of commuting by bike today. 17km each way, but pretty flat. Only had the bike a couple of weeks, but loving it. Well on my way to becoming a MAMIL wink
