Need to buy my eldest (girl) a new 24" wheel bike. So much choice, so many prices, need a suggestion please.

If you have a budget in mind I would go to a large bicycle shop i.e. Evans and have a good look round, you will probably have a restrictred choice with 24" wheels, can you consider 26" wheels and maybe a 13" or 15" frame. You haven't stated your daughters age and the intended use for the bike which will help with other replies.

Thanks both for the replies, she is 9 years so 26" is likely to be too big. Use will be purely road/pavement use.

yes They have an excellent reputation + it's nice to see a British company making great products - no pointless triple chainset, leaden, undamped 'suspension' or disc brakes.

my daughter just turned 10 and was'nt gonna buy her a 24" as it would need changing soon so got her a specialized hardrock disc 26' wheels but 13' frame and fits her perfectly, think it was £349 from evans. got the wee man a cube 240 that has 24" wheels he is 7 and that size is just right for his age he is 124cm tall,my daughter is 144cm.

hope this helps

Islabikes are the very best available and knock the offerings from halfords and evans into a cocked hat!

Isla is passionate about providing the best childs bikes!

i did try to get the kids on islabikes but they said no chance,i had heard loads of good reports but no suspension on front. the wee man likes to hair down the trails and the vibration he used to get on his old bike was terrible he would be just about in tears so the cube it was, once he gets older he will get his sisters bike with the disc brakes because v brakes in wet trail centre weather are terrible and hardly work.

just my 2p worth
