just gone clipless!

opted for speedplay zero pedals/cleats [and cafe covers] and a pair of last year's diadora speed racer CR shoes. mainly price driven on the latter as i am buying blind so gambled on size. they seem a good spec for the price [heavily discounted from CRC] with excellent ventilation.
Good luck with it. I went first time last weekend was doing ok thought I'd got the knack of it and then changed down too many gears at once, pedals went loose I hit the deck lol hence the new bar tape a bit further up!
i read that the speedplays need a bit of force before theyre broken in so i will probably join the club pretty quickly. where i live the nearest hill is about an hour away though and i ride mainly in dedicated cycle tracks, so maybe i will fare a little better than most!

Mmmm C59 drool, Can I borrow it...you know, just to keep it from seizing as you'll not be needing it soon... wink Still would be worth the ridicule of 300mm spacers on the cleats!

Really would like to try a C59 or 60 to see how the butted carbon frame rides, I'd like to imagine it's the best of both CF for its modern properties and steel for its traditional joining method.

So this C59... You've got a pic right? Just so as we're all absolutely clear on what it is that you are not buying.

Thanks to mickk pointing me in the right direction.

Plus

The reason for the red nipple :snigger: is so that I can tell which spoke I've replaced later. Then if/when others snap I can see if they are old or new and where they are in relation to the already replaced spoke.

Went to a bike jumble sale on Saturday just up the road in Tetbury, apparently it happens every month but I'd never heard of it, proceeds go to Bike Africa so all for a good cause.

Seems to be seconds and returns but I snagged a few bargains:

Didn't really need another pair of shoes though hehe

A huge win on eBay. Bought one of these...

... for £48. RRP £130.

I'm hoping Selle Italia's patented Arseometer is accurate, because this will suit my S2 build a treat and allow me to get rid of the painful Fizik tri saddle which is currently treating my bottom like a punchbag.

Just wheels left to go with the S2...

I have a Record crank and bottom bracket you can have for a keen price if you go for it ;-) Will look fine on that frame

Did you go to the shop to get measured to find out you were S2? I'm asking as my wife has had trouble in saddle selection for her road bike and wondered what the way forward to get one that she finds comfortable and is lighter than the moon unlike the current one!

Most shops have an arse-o-meter now, which will give an idea of what width of saddle to go for, she can then start trying some different shapes to see what she prefers.

Some manufacturers like Fizik, base their saddle fit on flexibility.

To avoid confusion: my bike is an S2 (Cervelo) and my arse is an L2 (presumably L for Lardy).

I did have it measured in the shop, yeah. They explained all sorts of things about sit bone width and flexibility, which mostly went over my head, but eventually came out with the L2 designator, of which the above saddle is (I think) the sexiest example.

Each saddle manufacturer, annoyingly, has its own system of measurement, so pick a brand that your wife likes the look of and find a shop which will measure you according to their system.

New lights for the coming autumn commutes.

Moon Comet to replace the bright-but-far-too-heavy Cateye TL-LD1100 that fell off recently and a tiny Lifeline front light for added 'here I am'ness. Both are USB to save all that undignified faffing around with AAAs.

And because I was already on Wiggle (rude not to...), a Crank Bros. multitool because my old one had a crisis of confidence and fell to bits on me recently, and a couple of new Conti Mountain Kings 'cos they were cheap and my rear is getting a bit threadbare.

I don't get these USB lights. What happens if you run out of juice halfway into a ride, or if you get to the bikeshed after work to discover you've left it on all day and now it's dead?
I can always carry a couple of AAAs with me as a backup. A portable USB charger just seems impractical.
