I have no idea! i have used Shimano, KMC, Wipperman, SRAM, Campy - so it's not as if I have been using a single weak brand of chain. I have used Purple Extreme, Chainl-no5, wax lube, and a few others so it's not the lube. I take the chains off and clean them in petrol then re-lube them frequently, so they are not being neglected.
Any ideas?
What makes you think they're dead? Measuring tool? Feel? Snapped? Any ideas?
Also, I had a chain snap on me on a climb a few years ago (result of a very worn chain) - it fecking hurt so I don't want a repeat of that!!
Mine had trashed my cassette and crankset after 3,000km. The LBS I took it to told me I need to be replacing the chain every 1,000km. It seemed excessive to me. The second chain has so far managed 2,000km but is almost worn according to the measuring tool.
I clean it after soggy rides and it's always lubed. Is it likely to be wearing quickly because it's a cheap chain? Do more expensive chains last a bit longer?

So I've gone for this instead - a little out of the ordinary but not stupidly expensive (although it is a tenner - I haven't been "out" for a while so this is one of my credits):

Some adverts I've seen show these in any colour you might want, although I could only find black (suits me).
Great customer service from Stefan at TriggerBell, he admits however the first production run used plastic that was too soft, the screwhead cannot cope with the torque required to tighten it sufficiently. It helps if you trim the strap to a shorter more suitable length first, but if you run into problems as I did, they will replace that part with a more current stronger solution.http://triggerbell.com/

Once done you'll find the designa winner in design and performance.
2 x 10 XT crankset for my Cannondale F29, nice simple upgrade and gives me a nearly new triple to fit to my old rigid M500 that is in desparate need of some parts!
Also just acquired a set of Elite Arion AL13 rollers for some winter training. They also have a magnetic resistance setting to really make me sweat...
