I see from Eurodragster and Facebook they are removing the surface from the pod and laying a fully concrete track , even tearing up the 1943 runway underneath

Was thinking back to other times its been redone , does anyone recall the damage done after the car tyres mysteriously caught fire on the track ?? wink

Or when it suddenly delaminated halfway through an event ? Think that was a Cannonball meet ?

A lot of people have been a bit tetchy about the old runway being removed, strange how the public sometimes get attached to something which is just some old concrete on the ground. It’s not like there’s any actual history visible that they’re destroying, it’s been covered up for years anyway.

I am wondering if the shutdown is looked after a bit too,

no complete makeover but smoothing / filling some bumps, edges and patches ?

Some vehicles were quite lively and bouncy in the shutdown when the tires unload and get wide again,

getting there quicker and faster (hopefully) would be great but that should be taken into consideration ?

Santa Pod are under pressure because a new town is being planned alongside the existing strip. If planning goes ahead then the strip will have to be moved to the opposite side of the site and some activities will be restricted..... Its bad news....
