So the 'Super Crew' he always spoke of so highly in his interviews have been dumped?

Makes sense in one aspect as the team Andy has joined already has a crew but it is a shame for them all.

So will Eddie be tuning someone else this year?

Hi @ll !
"Carter to run them both " ??
I do not think so, as far as I´ve understood on ED,
he takes the "old" dragster to exhibitions, shows and promotion events,
where Andy (and the car) can fulfill the needs of the thumbupLucas sponsorship thumbup deal.
This leaves the "new" car to be going to the FIA races,
and back to the smashworkshoptype inbetween.

O/T:
And, YES, I envy you for the early start of the season in GB,
here in germany the first T&T is on MZA at the end of april.....
(and grumpyonly yikes 3 races weeping altogether.......banghead )
By the way, the dutch racers from explosion are running 2 races for their
points championship @ the MZA Luckau dragstrip

Cheers,

=Ok I must have got a bit too excited But I do not understand having a top fuel car and team and not using them for racing. What a waste.

This is awful. Andy has not said he has sacked his team but he can't use two on one car so he must have! Still reckon he should run two cars or ask someone else to run one. The Team must feel gutted after all they have done. Andy must feel the same but the Lucas deal obviously can't afford two cars or Andy would run two wouldn't he? Could ask him on his web site but I don't think he uses it for chat. Sensitive stuff but if Andy would talk about it he would gain more support surely! Sure hope the Guys out of his team find other teams to work with so they will all be happy! Interesting stuff!

drags06: Maybe if you offered Andy £120k to run his show car for the season and another £20k to finish the upgrades and get it race ready he maybe would run two.

Owning a Top Fuel dragster makes you a top fuel dragster owner... Having a crew says you know a few people...
Having the sponsorship deal signed on the dotted line makes you a racer.

Do you honestly think Teams like the MacDonalds only run two rounds of the championship because they don't like driving on the wrong side of the road?

Knowing Andy a little better these days I am sure his decision is based solely on the business of winning. Per and Karsten have what is probably the best car out there and they have the skill to run it quick and clean and win championships. Andy has an old car of his own that needs work and Eddie and Ben to run it. While I don't think anyone would doubt the talent available from Mr Corr and Mr Allum, the car is the dubious part of the equation. If the funding is available why would you choose to have half a chance of winning when you can have every chance of winning for the same money.

As for the Lucas Oil deal being big enough to run two cars... :P

I know all that mate I know its all to do with money. Just a pity Lucas cash can' t go the extra mile or two! Yes, we know it is an old car but it could be made new and finding a driver we know is no prob! I like Andy, he really lives for our sport and I would never dream of knocking him like some would. It must have been hard for him to tell his team they won't be racing this year. We all know it is a battle of the fittest and that includes fighting for the funds and using the funds the best way possible.
What gets my goat is very rich people that reckon they like this sport but do nothing to help it or the racers etc. We are then expected to admire them! Sorry but until they put their hands in their pockets (and let it be known) then to me they are just plain selfish. I will also add that if I was very well off I would not only help but would own some teams etc. But being an ordinary working guy with all the stuff that goes with it the only thing I can do is show my support by going to my local and other strips when I can and buy tickets etc tumbleweed . (Sorry for long posting).

Trouble is, there is rich, and then there is very rich, and then there is Top Fuel rich.

I had a very entertaining afternoon with Stuart Lowes once (who atthe time was trying to put a AA/FC deal together), and he told me that he only ever does the Lottery on double rollovers, as otherwise it would not be enough money

It's an old gag fellas but never a true word was spoken, "you can make a small fortune from top fuel drag racing but first you have to start with a very, very large one "
If you could win your huge by large lottery cheque and run a top fuel team out of your hip pocket for a season, maybe two, soon you'd probably be getting your name on the council list for a grubby flat and a job at KFC.

mighty,
come on fella.
i think the crew in a top fuel team is alittle more than ,
just knowing a few people!
you and i know without the loyalty and hard work of the crew
at and away from the track,NOTHING HAPPENS.
normally the first to be blamed and the last to be thanked.

Maybe I should have put it more like "knowing the right people" Cliff.

You know I'd never dumb down the crew and their part in the overall equation.

Would be nice for Andy to come on here and say a few things about his lucky drive with the top of the tops! He may also like to add a few words about his crew or what is looking more like his ex crew just to shut us up!
Anyway, all the best Andy, looking forward to an exciting season

I don't see where "lucky drive" comes into it...

Per and Karsten run a full time business renting out the seat of their fueler and supplying the brains and hard labour. Andy is in the business of looking for another championship and has probably the funding for all or a large portion of the the rental costs for the 07 season, sourced from a marketing partner whom he has no doubt worked hard to engage over the past couple of years and no doubt will continue to work hard to promote during the period of his contract with them. The Anderssons needed to find a paying driver to fund their business for the 07 season and Andy was in need of a seat that would give him the best chance at the championship and the best exposure for his partners at Lucas.

Right I see things a lot clearer now, It is partly to do with business as well as the sport! Good luck to everyone in whatever team, lets just have some fun watching them. Just hope the other teams can put up a good fight to make it all even somehow! But we all know a lot can happen in a 4/5 second run! I don't like steam rollers and if that is what is going to happen with the above team then it will spoil it! We obviously need more joint adventures like Andy Per and Karsten! We will see!
Going on about sponsoring etc, Barry's idea (Fansfueler) did not take off!
Pity but just shows what it takes nowadays just to be able to run never mind winning!

I don't know where the idea that fansfueler didn't take off has come from either!

But then we've all heard the knockers and the FansFailure comments... If it wasn't for the data protection act I'd love to show them my FF members database!

The plan was always to be able to run with half of the funding coming from fansfueler as an organisation and which would hopefully match the funding which Barry was led to believe was already on the table from a corporate partner.

Fansfueler pledges after the initial 12 month promotion period totalled around £5000 more than initial expectations but sadly the corporate funding to match this failed to appear. As Barry has explained quite a few times... Fansfueler is on "Indefinite Hold". The idea definitely works and the whole community idea can be quite attractive to certain prospective corporate partners, but until the corporate funding is in place Barry and I both felt that it was totally impossible for us to further promote the idea. But don't count it out for the future! If we found the sponsor who was interested in working with us on that basis we still love the idea and know we could make it work for everyones benefit.

I agree Phil, if Mikres left the tunes before hopping off to tune Scott Kalitta's FC Erbacher should be off to a flying start.

Per & Karsten have already said they have been producing 330mph wheelspeed and need to translate that to MPH which they have a few ideas to try.

Nobody can underestimate Rune's tuning on Thomas' car.

Lex Joon will be willing to sacrifice some ally to the cause!

Let's not forgot that you need a little luck too!

Please don't take it the wrong way. I am not knocking Fansfueler and I had no Idea you are involved also.
It is a brill idea I wish you both luck and if I could get the f,fueler web page to work right on my computer (always out of date) then I would follow it more often and chip in a few quid if it got going! I do keep checking it out now and then as it is one of my homepages on one of my other log ons!
