Well I am still pondering but I don’t think a petrol auto gets a good write up!
Best buy a diesel auto while you can! The new one only comes with a 1.5 petrol until the hybrids come out. Plus, it looks slightly gash and the interior is no big improvement.

Got my new job confirmed so that's 20 miles e/w so diesel should probably be ok. As you say good deals on new 1.6 diesels!

Not sure if you are referring to Honest John who says the petrol auto is irritating to drive, but then he's clearly a German car fan like many of the media outlets. It's only a problem for people who are used to have that low down diesel shove on tap - which also run out of steam quickly and needs frequent gear changes.

The CRV 2.0 petrol auto just needs a little knowledge to get the best from it. Anything above 4,000rpm and it can really shift for a heavy car, you just need to know the speeds and revs for each gear so you know when to kick down (or use the manual paddles). To be completely honest it really should have had the 2.4 petrol engine especially for motorway driving, but this is more due to other people driving like idiots and constantly speeding up and down unnecessarily meaning you have to kick down more often.

For me the refined and quiet petrol engine mated with a very good auto box suits the nature of the CRV. I almost went for a JEEP Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4 HEMI but figured I'd be in single digit mpg, risk the reliability issues of JEEP and trying to get parts plus I'd no doubt be putting my licence at constant risk. I do love the exhaust note though....mmmmm....
