Tow bar......Type R

Hi folks as per the title on the lookout for a Facelift EP3 just now so have seen a couple and I saw one the other day with a tow bar the guy had fitted for towing a small trailer (not a big load as it's for a jet-ski....) Now I know from having an EP3 before that you can't legally tow with these as its not recommended by Honda so would invalidate insurance etc. The car itself was pretty clean and honest just with the odd mark but nothing too major but for some reason the fact it had a tow bar fitted is putting me off a wee bit, am I making too much out of it as the guy will take it off and put back to standard.
