Hey all,

I was stationary turning right, major to minor, in a 30 when I was rear ended by some-one I strongly suspect was doing rather more and on their ruddy phone.

Rear near-side quarter and lower rear door took the smack and I am preparing myself to find out the creasing in the shell means they will write it off.

If so, Im gutted. Ive had the car 6 months - 2.2 diesel - purchased with only 23k on the clock. I know I won't find the same again and its really upset me!!

On the upside, it took a hell of a hit ; I ended up in A&E with concussion, damaged neck and shoulder muscles, pre-high blood pressure, headache etctec.

Im feeling better today - not so out the ball park - but even more gutted my CRV is looking a write-off. They are top, top fabulous cars.

I think you’re being a bit dramatic about the loss of a diesel CRV you’ve only had for 6 months wink

Sorry to hear you were hurt.

I can empathise with how you feel about the car as just going through the write-off thing on my daughter's 2011 Golf. We've had it from new, been properly looked after and I was thinking it would run for ever as it's one of the last of the pretty basic cars - no electric handbrake or other nonsense electronics.

Was smacked in the back by a Mercedes van and slightly creased the C Posts. I was still hopeful if could be repaired but the repairer estimated £5K which is about what the car was worth. Quite how they've got to £5K I have no idea, but neither the repairer or the insurer want to discuss it.

I was aware of what happens, but never been through this before - insurer just sends a cheque and 4 days later takes the courtesy car back. Doesn't leave a lot of time to source another car. What the heck are you supposed to do if you want a new car - most are on long lead-times at the moment?

Sorry to hear. Glad you're okay. Ignore the dumb comments.

I was looking for an excuse to get a MK2, but I wasn't going to get a superbike inside, so abandoned the idea. Might still get one +a bike trailer. 23k is super low. Any pics?

I ended up with a 39k MK1 RAV4 FTSH, in the end. 3 door, and I can get a superbike inside.

Day 3 of sleeping!!! Ty for all your comments.

I stuck a tow bar on it to carry my work trailer weekdays then the bike trailer weekends. Rescue lurcher dog fitted nicely in the back and the roof rack held top box for going away!

Im unsure how long ill have the hire car for - i suspect longer as ive got to go and have various medical assessments due to head injury but yeah, am worried what ill buy next...........

Report this incident to the police, the faster the better if you suspect the driver behind was on their phone, not only will they get 6 points and a fine for being on the phone but probably another 6 points for undue care and attention.
Ensure you have the time of your accident as accurate as you can, its no consolation to losing the car but idiots like this need banning before they kill someone.

Hi Tony - All squared away ty. Police came round and took a statement from me; they intend checking his phone. my biggest mistake was not having my dash cam properly wired up; I have been sorting out a new ICE so disconnected it from running full time. If I had sorted it earlier, it would have given a g force measure which would have been useful to assess the RTC.
