Have a 1999 CR-V which I understand has the Honda 'all wheel drive' system so that normally drive is just the front wheels and when they lose traction then power is shifted to the rear wheels as well. I gather that on some proper 4wd systems you can end up with issues if you run mismatched tyres, but given the likelihood of the the rears engaging 99% of the time, is this going to be an issue for this?

When you say mismatched, are you talking about tread depth or tread pattern? If the latter then I don't think it's much of a problem for the AWD system but I'm not so sure about driving in heavy rain as surely the water dispersal will be different depending on the tread type and possibly be less stable? Not sure, just a random thought.

But if it's tread depth then I believe it can sometimes be a problem because the circumference difference makes the system think there's is slippage so it will unnecessarily engage the rear wheels and effectively put additional stress and wear on the rear diff.
