Saw a long convoy of S2000s in various states of mod cruising clockwise around J14/15 of the M25 last Sunday. Quite fun to see, but some of them had their wheels fitted at what looked like a 30 degree camber angle. I won't pretend I've never seen it before, but doesn't it absolutely wreck the car's handling, let alone the tyres? I was driving so couldn't get a photo.

Yes, and Yes.

Sadly the S2000 is now too often in the hands of the yoofs with their silly mods.
When I owned one from new in 2006 the club scene was relatively civilised as the car was financially out of reach for many. Guess it's all changed now.

Does make me a bit sad when I see a car that I know is such a good starting platform for a track / fast road car, to then be essentially modified purely for 'form' – not what I would call aesthetically pleasing either.

The money that some of the guys round here spend on putting their cars on air with ridiculous blingy wheels could could have just as easily turned the same car into a road and track eating machine.

Ah well, each to their own and all that.

Did you use S2Ki? I was on there at that time. I owned both 2001 & 2006 models from new.

Like you said back then the club was full of fairly mature owners that most just enjoyed the car as it was.

For balance, nearly all of the s2k at JDMcombe last month were only lightly modified visually and not stanced out, so I think the stanced s2000 brigade iis very much the minority.

Yes to S2Ki.
I had an inkling that the car would eventually get in the hands of kids encouraged by the emergence of articles in Jap mags. I moved on but good luck to 'em.
Also owning a year old MK 1 MX-5 & membership of the MX-5 Owners Club almost from the day it was launched led to much enjoyment in the company of some of the nicest people but as the club grew in line with the popularity of the car it all got a bit too big & impersonal despite a plethora of regional groups.
The club scene no longer appeals, been there & done it but although I continue to own sporting machinery on a different level it's intriguing to attend shows as a spectator.

I was on S2K as well. I had a 2003 Silverstone GT from new. One of the best cars I ever have owned, such a fun car to drive and the power was about right for our roads.

I had a Lotus Elise 111S, a Boxster Spyder and most recently a 996. I’ve now got a S2000. I love it - it’s everything I liked about my previous cars (which were all different) but very much has an identity of its own.

I’m struggling a bit with forums though. With Porsche it was 911uk for easy to access technical advice and PH for “banter”. S2Ki seems underused and anything with lots of posts takes ages to scroll through (so I don’t bother). Facebook is pretty active (if a bit “scene” oriented) but finding threads and previous posts is completely random. I often miss new comments on my own posts...

Lots of owners seem to be on Instagram etc but I’m not sure that gives me the tech/thread content I’m looking for in a forum.

Maybe I’m too old!

Some of us still around with our S2000s (my 52 plate still going strong) but I visit s2ki perhaps twice a year. HOwever, I was a single 20 something when I bought mine and now a 40 something with two young daughters so the S2000 is limited to business miles now....
