There are front tow hooks but they're under the bumper on the subframe, so pulling them usually means damaging the bumper / splitter too.
The fuel pump recall is fairly well known on the US Forums - Most people seem to have it die when they try turning on (A rather less catastrophic failure mode!)
In the US they have essentially said it is "All cars" - Literally everything; CRV, HRV, NSX, Civic etc. etc. but they were releasing the recall in waves by VIN number due to part availability.
Usually there are also hard / long starts or general "rough running" sensations as a precursor to failure too, but it can be completely random.
The fuel pump supplier didn't correctly cure the impeller plastics in production, so they gradually swell and become stuck.
For anyone who hasn't had a replacement, and is in the date range given in the US Recalls, it's probably worth asking the dealer service department directly to check for any TSB / Recalls on the honda internal systems.
Thanks for this info. The worry is if your car is not on the recall list, it can still happen, as it did to us!The fuel pump recall is fairly well known on the US Forums - Most people seem to have it die when they try turning on (A rather less catastrophic failure mode!)

Our car gave us no warning whatsoever, it just stalled & wouldn't start. Imagine that happening at motorway speed!
Used car prices have re aligned in recent months for mainstream stuff, for cars like the FK8 type R being rare and specialised the market is trying to find its level. On one hand boggo basic civics are/have dropped in value, but with the latest model being a bit of a hero car, and a nearly £50k,being not that different to the FK8, prices of FK8's are confused. If you can't get an FL5, the FK8 is a damn good substitute as a top notch drivers car, so the prices of these rise towards the FL5.
FK8 has done well residual wise, but when looking at pricing feel the market impact hasn’t hit them quite yet, maybe it won’t.
New FK8 2017,I paid 32k, sold for 27k July 2022 20k mileage
FL5 paid 48k, sold Oct 2023 47.3k.
Feel I did alright for 5 years and 26k mileage in my Honda’s depreciation wise.

Just visiting as ive always had a soft spot for these and am thinking of going for one in maybe a years time.
I currently have an Elise sat in the garage but dont use it much and would be looking for something to maybe daily that could still excite on the weekend.
My shortlist is the FK8 and an OG M2 and im still a bit undecided but the Civic makes more sense to me as a car that can be exploited more of the time without fear of meeting a hedge backwards!
Do you get the urge to tune them or are they best left as standard and enjoyed?

Yes they need an exhaust, way too quiet without, PRL intake isn’t big £s and gives some nice noise too. What bhp they give I have no idea but other than brakes these were the only mods I felt were ever needed.
M2 will be easier to put in a hedge that’s for sure, on the group runs we did in the north M2 couldn’t stay with the FK Civics on b roads despite their power advantage.
Who are the people to go to for upgrades for these? Ideally in the South East or London areas. I'd prefer to get a Stage 1 or 2 tune with all the upgraded parts and tune being tried and tested.
I'd also be interested in lowering it slightly and fitting mild spacers to push the wheels out slightly. If the same tuning shop could do this, all the better!

No experience of them but Dream seem to get good comments, they have an informative YouTube channel. Based in Luton.
TPW Engineering for mapping, chatted to him a few times via messages, seems good to me. Does the mapping for Civic Cup.

Just joined the club. Had a bit of negotiation to get them to throw in a service and 4 premium tyres but we got there in the end, hopefully pick up on Wednesday.
Coming from an ND mx5 184 which I’ve kept longer than any other car and absolutely love, but we’ve a wee one and every time we went to go somewhere at the weekend it ended up being in my old diesel shed, so had been keeping an eye out for something enjoyable to drive but 4 seats.
An m2 comp was the forerunner but a good one was at the very top of budget, plus the running costs on everything from mpg, servicing parts and warranty seemed a level up. And when I drove the Honda it was exactly the hardcore type of thing I love.
It’s unlike but wonder if the previous owner is on here? DY21MYN

Congrats, I suspect you’ll enjoy it if my experience of the last year is anything to go by.
As well as being quick & all that it’s also engaging at normal speeds (relative for a modern) & so easy to use, its bandwidth is quite something. Its little things, well big ones frankly like the incredibly comfortable seats which manage to be both cool in summer and not cold in winter which really add to it in my eyes.
Someone on the facebook group did the same change (might be one in the same!) & I was intrigued on his views as I’d like a ND 184 at some point.
