Wow. Maybe this got mentioned elsewhere?

I know how it is (as in how the used car world is), its getting older etc. I guess this will see S2000s creep up in price now over the coming years

Just cant imagine ever paying that for a rusty old Honda. Had my eye on S2000s for a while now deciding I'd like to own one, even at £13k they seem a bit overpriced, I'd sooner buy an FD2 or just go buy a K20 Elise actually.

I've noticed DC5's are also on the up now, prices seem to be up ~£3K+ over a year ago, there is NO way I could bring myself to may above £10k for what is essentially a stty old rusty hatch back and the going rates for a nice one are well above that now

That does seem to be a bit speculative. Until now, the only £20k+ S2000s I’ve seen have been four figure mileage or one of the last 100 for the UK.

But if the car’s that good it won’t be rusty or (should it be) in need of anything. IMHO it’s £10k for a rust free S2000 in genuine needs nothing condition. Yes there are cheaper cars out there but they’re cheap for a reason and they sell to people with different expectations to me.

These are great cars: a do it all, usable, driver’s roadster with a unique engine. Simple but sophisticated. A K20 Elise is equally appealing but a very different proposition. I think prices are rising because a healthy engine (even with 100k miles) is £3k+ and many are in need of work, or modified to a personal taste.

In many ways I think the closest competitor in value for money / character terms is a Boxster but that again is a very different car in practice.

Most cars like these seem to be appreciating quickly now. £23k seems steep even if it is a very low mileage one but I haven't really looked at S2000 rates in a while. On DC5s, I started to import one in July for around £12k. Within a few months they were going for around £14-15k. A few years ago they were well under £10k!

I suppose as good quality examples become rarer they're only going to increase in value.

A 14000 mile S2000 isn't going to be rusty is it...

Different strokes for different folks, and clearly a mint low miler S2000 isn't for you, doesn't mean it isn't for someone else though does it? Market dictates the S2000 is becoming more desirable (prices on the up).

As has been said, due to every man and his dog wanting the F20 for their kit car, the engine alone fetches near the leggy end of entire cars

Could well be, what if its lived in Scotland for 10 years?

And you're right. Just in awe at prices recently

Mine has lived in Scotland for 11 years and not rusty, however it does live in a garage and is only on 45k miles, the car in question may be priced £23k but whether it sells for that is a totally different thing, rock up with a wedge of £100 notes might have an effect on the asking price.

There doesn’t seem to be many in a decent colour for sale at the moment. Are there any places outside of the normal routes (AT/eBay/Facebook) these are listed?

The owners club S2KUK is worth a look, but most S2000s are some variant of silver, and a lot are black. Red, white, blue and occasionally yellow are also available and the orange, green and burgundy cars are very rare. What are you after?

Prices slowly rising because rose tinted specs, end of ICE, characterful car.
One or two chancing their arm on super low mileage, or limited edition - standard.

An 04 to 06 plate car with sub 50,000m for sub £14k to me is one of the biggest and best bargains on the market right now, in terms of a specific time/place driving experience, if not quite a daily driving experience.

Spec is subjective.

My preference would be Yellow, Orange, Green, Red or maybe Blue. The main priority is the condition of the car though.

I have looked on S2KUK (non pay for part), but I think there was only 2-3 cars for sale. There only seems to be around 50 cars for sale in the UK in total at the moment, which seems low(?).

Nice car, but i’m not a fan of silver. I want something yellow/orange/lime green/red.

I think 50 for sale is about right really. There are only 5000 non-SORN according to how many left. Apart from my own, I haven’t seen one for months!

Been driving my son's car while the other is in the body shop. It is such an occasion driving it, so mechanical and sharp. Get tempted to sell it when you see some of the prices, however will be difficult to replace..

Interesting car going on auction, 1 owner, looks in amazing condition..

It looks good on the face of it. “You can tell this is a fair weather car, underneath looks excellent too, with no issues to report.” Right... They haven’t disclosed the obvious corrosion developing at the bottom of the front arches/sills behind the front wheels. Looks fairly set in on the offside front. Offside rear sill isn’t looking too healthy either. The bumper is a few hundred quid to repair but it’s been left. The rear tyres are 5 years old. The front tyres are over 12 years old! The wing badges are missing. Looks like it’s had a new roof at some point as it’s got a glass screen instead of the plastic one it was made with. Red calipers are wrong! Very very optimistic pricing.

Quite a few people debadged the wings from memory, and also painted the calipers red, although I was not a fan of either.

Glass rear screen came in on MY02 models, but I can't remember the other aesthetic "improvements" with the MY02s to see if they are on this.

Ah I thought that was done with the facelift in 2004. Woops.
