Should we value the Scottish ones differently?
Yes - never seen a Scottish car that wasn't rusty as hell!

OP - I've had my s2k 9 years, tried to sell it 3 times but nothing comes close - I'd avoid a ropey cheap one as they've not been looked after and repair bills for bushes/rust will soon be half the purchase price - but get a decent condition one with average miles and it will cost you £0 in repairs and you'll likely get your money back (or make a profit)
Not just the Scottish cars - we looked at a lot of S2000s before settling on ours, underbody rust does seem to be a pretty big problem. Surprisingly, the one we ended up getting was clean underneath but relatively high mileage and topside was a bit mossy. Presumably used in dry weather only but parked outside in the shade.

We had it undersealed at SW Rustproofing as one of the first jobs so we didn't feel obliged to keep it just for fair weather use... It's an S2000, it's for driving!

The values are still creeping up. Even my own car that isn’t that special (2005 Silverstone GT on 89000 miles) that I bought for £9000 in Jan 2020 has just been approved for an agreed insurance value of £15000. No argument whatsoever from the insurer about that figure - I should have gone for a higher value!
You bought well. Facelift pre 06 GT is what everyone wants. My 95k mile pre facelift is probably worth £10k on a good day, but I think would be a harder sell.

Is it usually specialist insurers that provide an agreed value? as I probably need to do this on mine...

Mine is with Adrian Flux (EP3, not S2K) and I pay £30 a year for agreed value. I've asked for a bit more this year than last and they wanted some amounts that I have spent on the car but it's worth the extra IMO.

Not sure about the GT bit…storing the hardtop is a pita unless you can keep it in the servants quarters smile

Yeah it is pretty annoying I’ve got to say. I have the official Honda stand, but it takes up so much space! I never drive it with the hardtop on. Only to transport the car or when the car is at a garage (keeping the soft top in good condition).
That’s why people sell them for £2k!

Ah, that’s what’s happened, I thought I was going mad / had major computer issues!

Fair enough, i’ll go with my thinking that it is worth a little more.

Apologies mods, it was an innocent enough question, honestly.

A £34950 asking price for one now:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202306198...

Unfortunately someone has fitted aftermarket front and rear parking sensors! So that’s the original paint on the bumpers lost to remove those.

Despite that high asking price the values of the “normal” cars have been steady for a while. Even though it’s the summer there are some good prices out there for buyers.

Well it is slightly modified but does the ad even make it clear how many miles the car has done ?

Which is not to say that this aren't great cars ... as are the DC2 Integras etc !

Tempted to go take a look at a local one up for 16k.

Pains me when I paid 5k for mine 5 years ago...was a bit of a nail and saw it recently up for sale for 10k.

Tread carefully with the rust.

Also my impression is that prices have dropped quite a bit over the last six months.

I suspect that it is because there are plenty of them on the market for sale right now for the summer. When I was looking 4 years ago, there were around 30 on Autotrader. Over 3 times as many. Low mileage nice examples are still commanding good money..

Anything with low miles, great condition and impeccable history commands good money. Most S2000s for sale fall down on those criteria and it's those cars that are no longer achieving high prices.

Rust really is a major issue along with the geo bolts.

That would be my perfect s2000, I know most people want the facelift but a prefacelift in NB (yellow or orange also) would be my dream car. I had one once when they were cheap. 32k though eek
