I would rather have an NSX any day over a porker.
Unless were talking GT3 or GT 2 or even a GT

WOW
If you already had this in your portfolio why would you bother with the front engined one?

the new one seems to be more aimed at the Maclaren Merc POS

looks like the spirra a bit !

The reasons that few original NSXs were bought are three: potential buyer's snobbish brand envy, Honda's desire to build a truly usable automobile (as opposed to pathetic wank-toys), and Honda's more serious mistake - not enough power. All they would have needed to do was install the original-spec V8 and, voila - world-beater.

So what's changed?

1. Brand snobbery is still just as strong today as when the NSX was launched. When it was released Honda were dominating F1 and that didn't help the image in the slightest.
2. More competition in the useable sports car sector: 997/Cayman/Audi R8/Aston Vantage/Maserati, with a new Nissan GTR and Lotus expected.
3. If people want power rather than lightness surely a V10 is a good idea?

I still haven't seen any arguments that convince me a new lightweight, mid-engine Honda NSX would be any more successful than the previous version.

Clarkson has previously Raved about the NSX and Renault Alpina GTA, and had no effect on sales. Sadly if you don’t have the right badge it won’t sell regardless of how good it is.

Once people are paying more than 50K prestige is the key factor for the majority of buyers.

Considering the poor sales of the NSX it's not really surprising that Honda would go down a different path for its replacement.

That's what I was thinking. iirc only around 15,000 NSX's ever found homes.

Porsche sold >30,000 911's last year alone.

Agree with the above. Lots of "That's not a proper NSX replacement" here. Obviously the old NSX was well-loved. So well-loved that virtually no-one bought one.

I find it quite sad that I can never recall ever seeing a NSK on the roads. I'm sure I have, but with such a rare event and such a long time ago, it's easy to forget. many a 911 seen though quite often, even in the less-affluent NE.

I think this example is a little too American for me, but still like it. Big fan of Honda engines though thumbup

Sadly true...although the 'cult status' of the first NSX (and now the 'teg too, which I am definitely having mixed feelings about - ranting linky) will no doubt help sales of any replacement - a lot more people now know that Honda can make very good sports cars, whereas in 1991 they had zero road-car pedigree.

So whatever comes out WILL sell clearly better than the NSX (OK, not difficult), but will struggle against the established brands...loads of people will still buy Porkers and Fezzas for the badge, not the car.

I do wish magazines would stop publicising these Hondas - leave these cars a secret for those of us who know already!

But the point is almost right; sales would be better if Honda don't bring the Accurist brand here, as they are about to do in Japan & have in China. That will render it back to square one.

I think they would be better off concentrating on taking on the likes of the Audi R8. ie. about £70k tops, Also they should stick with midengined, 400HP & light weight. I much prefer the earlier concept as most others have said.
