...not really worth importing for: as we don't get 100 RON fuel over here!

THAT is the key point...on 100RON it'll develop the extra, but on 97RON the knock sensor will retard the ignition so the effective compression is probably no different.

No such thing as a Type R.

Japanese Domestic Market (JDM)'s have 250bhp
and some with part cloth interior.

Square rear numberplate apperture and bugger
all undersealing.

So, explain the link above.
You're saying they're trying it on?

There's no such thing as an S2000 Type R in any market (unfortunately). Someone has stuck a Type R badge on it, that's all.

Agreed. And for heavens sake DO NOT go mentioning 'Prelude Type R' on HondaRevolutions. It would be akin to talking about conveyor belts on here, only more heated.

Actually, I'm thinking there may well have been JDM only TypeR until a year or two ago.
There's a TypeV as well as the regular, which has the VGS and a couple of other things.
Maybe you're right, and the dealer who's selling it is chancing his arm.

Agreed, not many people would notice the difference in 10 bhp in an S2000.
I was just stating a fact as someone earlier said it was horsepoo, when in fact it wasn't!

After owning both a UK and JDM S2000 I can confidently say the JDM's are slightly quicker. They certainly have more of a punch when hitting V-tec

The JDM car has a different engine code.

Thinner HG, higher comp pistons, no Vtec oil presure sensor and 2 knock sensors.

They are also OBDI and the USDM/EDM ones are OBDII - for emissions.

237bhp (240ps) vs 247bhp (250ps)

Early ones don't have the headlamp washers. White is available as a colour, as is cloth interior. Some have SatNav cut into the dash too.

New ones get the same 2.2 that the US gets (F22C).

I think it's '8-and-a-bit' at the limiter. IIRC it's stroked, so piston speeds are higher for the same revs, and hence they needed to cap it at a sensible level.

'04 onwards USDM has the F22, '06 onwards JDM.

Not sure on spec differences, suspension etc. though, so wouldn't go as far as saying 'same' - Japs can have optional VGS, for example.
