If I had a ctr I would swap it for the new jdm type r, it looks like a mini evo.

Well I was suitably impressed, come from an EK9 3/4 years ago, and subject to confirmation regarding a specific request one will be joining my Elise later this year was told September delivery. Don't get me wrong I don't think it is the same car Japan launched with the DC2, DC5 or EK9, but for me it ticks the right boxes for this time in life.

Went back to the dealer today to sign up for the dealer-fit options and saw a new Type R going through pre-delivery inspection - the 19" Rage alloys looked stunning yum and I'm glad I specd them, though they do look pretty vulnerable for kerbing and potholing (you should see the disgraceful state of the roads round here). Still haven't seen the Deep Bronze yet, so fingers crossed....

I saw the deep Bronze went I went to sign the paperwork for mine. It looks like Black until the sun shines on it when it turns a metalic Brown colour. its much better than I expected, but I'm still happy with Red for mine. Good luck with the 19" alloys, I decided they just looked too vulnerable to damage myself, but I guess if you're really careful it should be fine.

No!!

I remember changing from an original mark1 scooby to the 2000 model and although I have to admit to me it handled better - or was easier to drive??, it was nowhere near the same fun and felt much slower, especially 0-100mph!

I havent driven the new ctr and to be honest after seeing one in feb at the local supermarket (must of been someone from Honda in swindon as the car wasnt yet released!) it looks nothing more special than the normal civic and from the initial mag reviews it is not only a lot slower to 100 (by 3 seconds!!!!!!) but has a lot of devided opinion in other respects. Why do manufactures try to change what is a winning formula to appeal to the masses and dumb down the car in the process? My 05 model ctr is a great drive, one which I dont think the new car will replace...

So for me it is either an elise or the s2k for the next car.....

Which ones? I haven't seen any side-by-side performance comps yet

I have a DC2 and have driven mates' EP3s. I test-drove the new CTR a week after launch day.

In a word: disappointing. It has too many creature comforts and is too refined. The ride is crashy and it's too heavy. The dashboard is dificult to read. It doesn't feel that quick.

It is not a Type-R. I jumped into my DC2, and it felt like a racing car in comparison.

In evo i think the new type-R is listed at 18.5 secs 0-100. Look on the civic type-R forums and any other search engine for the old car and it is listed at 15.5 secs 0-100.

I definatly wouldnt

my CTR is 2 years old at the end of the month and i looked over the new one whilst it was serviced this week heres my thoughts

CONS

too exspensive, my car with air con was 5 grand cheaper than a golf GTI at the time i got it making it a bargin, the new car costs alot more for the few quid extra its worth getting the golf now which is a far better all round car

styling looks a mess, as clarkson would say "crashed into a halfords" very cluttered, to much going on, to MAX POWER. Very personal this ofc

Rear suspension, cost of car has gone up loads yet rear suspension has gone from high tech to 40 years old with a 90% cost saving?

Owners complain about hearing the petrol slosh about in the tank

Start button, anoying MAX POWER gimmick

Cheap interior materials for the price

No power increase, its a very competative sector and the car need at least anouther 20bhp

PROs

The only thing i liked was the new interior layout

The huge price hike has put it directly into line with the competition with alot of other cars most of which are either faster, better built, better real world cars or combinations of all 3

having just read the jap spec type R, i would have forgiven the price hike and very dodgy styling if the UK car had come with the 222bhp engine and the very much needed LSD...
