Not only is it Group 20, it's Group 20D - which from memory means that the ABI thinks that its security isn't as good as it should be for a car of its type. Couple with that the number of them that has historically been shoved into hedges backwards and you can see why it tends to be so high.

My last renewal before I sold my second one was around £750 - 34, 8 years NCB, 1 SP30, 12,000 miles p.a and garaged in Cheshire. The 911 that replaced it was over £200 more expensive, despite having 50 bhp more and an engine almost twice the size!!

elephant.co.uk were by far the best for me when i had one (27 when i got it-ungaraged at the time) -at about 750 fully comp.

That's a decent quote, I paid £1500 when I first got mine, I was 28 at the time with about 7 years NCB (SE London postcode, pretty much the worst there is).

Comes with the territory I'm afraid.

PS I then went on to demonstrate why it's expensive to insure by sticking it into a motorway barrier and taking my insurers for 17 grand

I paid £1200 for my insurance in November . Im 28 with 4 years no claims. but then rolled it and stuck it on its roof at end of january - walked away which im quite chuffed about. not lookin forward to my next premium when i get paid out though.

I pay approx £1000 with TESCO, 25yo now, garaged, 7 years NCD with 3 points again, just as I lost the last 3 off my licence! An upgraded impreza is less than this for me!!

Not really.

There's still a dialogue ongoing with Honda (at least in theory) and there's talk of them agreeing to supply replacement parts at reduced rates.

Chris Franklin at centergravity, who does suspension/geometry alignment work with a lot of S2000 owners, is also working on a potential fix that involves reconditioned parts, at considerably less cost than Honda would charge, and also helping to prevent the problem in the first place by lubricating and coating bolts to prevent them seizing.

My first year insurance in an S2000 was £2500, so this sounds pretty good to me....
Second year was £1,700.

All sounds quite high. We use Admiral multiquote for all our vehicles the S2000 comes in at just over £700 that's with myself OK 51 with full no claims and my son 22 years old but named as a shared driver not a named driver.
