Had mine for two years and the only expense has been tyres.

Apart from the MAF sensor needing the odd tap it's run like clockwork.

Half a litre in 4k miles, some(most) of them enthusiastic, that'll do me, best mpg over a long weekend....34mpg, I do find that the fuel guage drops very quickly in the last quarter and the light comes on, but there's a fair bit left in the tank.
I'm told that the tyres need changing soon after getting down to 4mm though.
Not for changing it mind.

Interesting thread this.

I'm considering one of these as my next motor.

By all accounts, they seem cheap to run after my Focus.

hmmm scratchchin

Incidently, do these cars have a slippy diff as standard?

Yep, nice torsen-type lsd.

Costs...I'm assuming yours is an RS Focus...probably pretty similar. Insurance isn't cheap, (good) tyres are between £300 and £500 a set, depending on brand, servicing is pretty standard £150-£300 depending on work done.

Depreciation will probably not be much more than an RS, esp. if you buy 2nd hand to start with...they hold well over 50% at 3 years.

Compare that to a Boxster (stock or -S), and it's a bargain. Compare it to an MX5 and a turbo-conversion, however... scratchchinwink

I have just started a new thread on purchasing an S2k, then spotted this one! Really useful info here thanks all!

Think the S3 is going to have to go, ship in that S2k while the sun is still shining!

NB Anyone had a blat against an E36 M3 - if so how did you get on? Got a mate I want to p*ss off, but thinking the S2k might not quite have the guts!

Not sure, to be honest. It's quicker than a 330Ci and in the right gear will just about keep up with a 335Ci (off-cam you've no hope however).

So an E36 M3...non-Evo I'd say probably yes, Evo more doubtful. And you'd have to pick your moments, the M-engine is more flexible in the mid-range.

Conversely though....I reckon the e36 would pull your pants down - especially in the traffic light GP, up to 20 the s2000 is pretty gutless.

You'd look cooler though cool

I've had a few blats with the last I6 M3 (I don't know, or care for beemers) .. they were toast each time.

The Z4M I had a play with I almost shunted off the road due to his severe lack of acceleration.

And i caught a 997 GT3RS down a straight section of Nurburgring (he had bigger balls for the corner).

Indeed biggrin , est 375bhp @ Fly. But a lot of people don't expect it wink

The 997 was funny. The driver and passenger were in race suits, HANS devices and race helmets.

My mate and I had the roof down, bike lids and oily clothes.

Everywhere that I have read, the S2000 has got a reputation for being a bullet proof and entertaining sports car.
I ran one for 3 years and it was excellent. Had one problem with the anti theft system doing anti-theft stuff whilst I was driving it (!), but apart from that - lovely.

Fantastic car. Would like to buy another one day - feels more of a 'fun sports car' than the Cayman, that's sometimes a little too good.

Go for it thumbup

My next door neighbour is about to supercharge his - could be very enertaining. Going on a track day with him in a couple of months - should be a damn fine laugh - a very sideways laugh I should imagine!!
