I'm considering a prelude Vti. Does anyone here know if they are any good? The performance and reliability seem good from what I've read. What I'm really interested in is the driving experience and ride/handling. I notice they aren't mentioned in 'the knowledge' in evo but parkers seem to rate the handling a lot.

Cheers in advance for your help.

Only negative comments I can mention are overly light steering and the electronic 4ws system sometimes trips out if you catch the kerb parking. My ma had to take hers back to the dealer about four times, and the dealer wanted £25 a pop to reset the compooter.

Very nice cars for the money tho! biggrin

top tip - do not get an auto,
one further thing - do not get an auto.

I know people who have been through four boxes in 12 months, mine went after 6 months, i got shot of it quick smart.

The manual goes very well though

Preludes are one of Honda's finest cars, nothing recently comes close for style and comfort and speed.

The Jap spec Type S or SIR-S is the one to really go for in the 5th gen shape. I personally have always loved the 4th gen shape, which I own and have tarted it up somewhat! My new rims should be on soon.. mmmm Mugen.

It would definitely be a manual, either the 4th or 5th gen and it has to have that lovely 2.2 vetec. Thanks for all your replies people.

Where's the best place to get one? Not many decent uk cars on autotrader or ebay.

I have a '97 Prelude VTI, and i can tell you how it drives.

I find a good car to drive, but it feels heavy because it is a heavy car. My old car ('96 Civic VTI) was much more fun to drive. Lite and nimble. The Prelude needs a good set of coillovers to handle the way it shood handle. I got myself a D2 coillover set, and i love it. I realy improves the handling. The 4 wheel steering that comes standard with the car is nice but stop you from lowering the car by more than 4 cm's. I just puld out my fuse and put a bold in the rear steeringrack so it stays nice and strait.

Excuse my bad English, i'm Dutch biggrin

Thanks for your reply. I have heard they are quite heavy (over 1400kg?). Don't worry about your English, mine isn't very good and my Dutch is even worse!
