Technical Advice - Error on Dashboard

I test drove a 96 JDM DC2 on the weekend which I 'm looking at purchasing, the car seems to perform ok but i have some concerns re. some warning lights on the dash.
I noticed when going from 4000 thru to 6000 rpm a red light appears on dashboard Its on the right hand side below the "oil can" light. As the car did not have a user manual :-( so I can't work out what it is.
Want do do a deal however I need to know what this problem indicates.
The other question relates to standard JDM car (or any teg for that matter) are there any special keys,
I assume there should be two sets but are there any "special ecu" coded keys i should make sure the owener has ? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
