What do you miss about the UK?

Lyon I would have thought would have been a bit too far. OK on a fine day but the motorway goes through some hilly locations and I would imagine bad weather could bring it to a stop.
When we were in GVA a few folks were living in Annecy, mostly however it was just the few villages around Douvaine. Quite a few are now moving back into the city given the way the commute has gone.
As for houses, we have one and an OK size garden. We're in Canton Zurich, though not near the centre. I can still be in the airport in 30mins and centre within 45 so it's not too bad. It all depends what you're comparing it to. I doubt a house like ours in a village this sort of commute from London would cost much less.
When we moved to CH in 2003 we moved to one of the smartest villages in GE (a small rented house which came with a boat mooring). We paid about the same in rent as my mortgage in SW1 but got twice the space. Then in 2005 we moved to Winterthur and again paid the same but doubled the space. Now we have double the space again and similar mortgage payments.

Returning to the OPs original question.... not much! Lea and Perrins, Chutney can be bought here, just Branston is difficult.
Perhaps a warm flat beer or a real ale at a canalside pub on a warm summers evening is something I miss....... without chavs, drunken slobs, loud teenagers and other such apparitions!

Sorry guys, should have remarked that I'm just in Germany on the border, not directly in CH! So we have the advantage of excellent restaurants which are affordable etc etc... but must also say our favourite (and best) restaurant is in CH (just!) only 300m from the D-border... There is also a power-increase limit of +20%
Is that true? I'm sure I've seen RS6s with MTM tuning at over 700 BHP vs 571 BHP standard.http://www.dtc-ag.ch/site/fileadmin/download/forms...

You can have more than 20%, but it all has to be tested / approved by the DTC:

Interesting stuff. Do you know if it has to be done on each and every car or once by the tuner manufacturer e.g. ABT/MTM in the Audi example? http://www.dtc-ag.ch/site/fileadmin/download/forms...

ETA That would explain why the TT RS (and presumably RS3/Q3 RS) MTM chip increases power to 414PS = 345PS * 1.2.
I don`t live in Switzerland any more but I think I`m in a position to to add here.
What do/did I miss about the UK? Well, living in Scotland I`d need to say the craic and the slower pace of life. I`ve tried to explain on countless occasions to the Swiss about things being taken a slower pace and less pressure on perfection but it always seems to fall on their Germanic deaf ears. Across here on a Wednesday in a restaurant you might hear, "No fillet only sirloin today". Huge deal for them but for me, it`s a "That`s fine thanks, medium rare please" for my Swiss guests in Scotland it`s a laughing matter and a bit of a culinary disaster.
I`m heading to Zurich again next month for a bit and although I love the place I`m always glad to return to Blighty.
